ValueClick Gets CAN-SPAM Scrutiny
Westlake Village-based ValueClick reported in an 8K filing with the SEC last week that the firm is being investigated by the FTC. The firm said in the company has received a "letter from the Federal Trade Commission stating that the FTC is conducting an inquiry to determine whether the Company's lead generation activities violate either the Federal Trade Commission Act or the CAN-SPAM Act." Linspire Taps Virtualization Software
San Diego-based Linspire announced this afternoon that it is now offering a desktop virtualization software offering from Parallels, through its Linspire and Freespire Linux operating systems. Linspire said that Parallels will be offered through its CNR delivery service. Parllels allows users to run any version of windows under a Linux environment. Fabrik Gets $24.9M
Fabrik, a San Mateo-based firm that provides storage and content management services, has raised $24.9M in a Series D funding. The company, which maintains offices in Santa Ana, said that the funding came from 3i and ComVentures. Fabrik owns SimpleTech, a hardware brand that sells flash memory, USB flash drives, and memory upgrades, which it purchased from STEC (formerly SimpleTech) last year in a $43M deal. Quest Software Acquires Magnum Technologies
Aliso Viejo-based Quest Software has acquired Magnum Technologies, a vendor of business services management software tools, Quest said today. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Magnum Technologies develops software that is used by companies to manage business and IT services. Magnum Technologies was founded in 1999, and received venture capital funding from Hitachi Data Systems and others.

SOA Software Sells Services Unit For $24.9M
Los Angeles-based SOA Software, a developer of software tools for the Service Oriented Architecture market, announced Monday that it sold its professional services business to an Indian provider of information technology services. The deal was worth $24.9M. SOA Software said it sold its professional services business to Pune, India-based Zensar, in order to concentrate on its enterprise software business. Vitesse Announces Ethernet Chip Line
Camarillo-based Vitesse Semiconductor has announced a new line of products focused on Ethernet connectivity today, saying that it has announced new fourth-generation, 10/100/1000M Ethernet MAC products. The firm, which develops high speed networking components, said that the new devices are targeted at edge routers, enterprise and security switches, and data centers. MyNextDeal Inks MLS Deal
Thousand Oaks-based MyNextDeal.com, an online search engine for commercial real estate listings, said today that it has entered into a data sharing agreement with CIMLS.com, a commercial investment multiple listing service. MyNextDeal will index commercial property listings from CIMLS. MyNextDeal is a vertical search engine focused on commercial real estate listings, and aggregates listings from a number of third party listings services.

Sequoia Communications Ships RF Transceiver
San Diego-based Sequoia Communications has announced a single chip RF transceiver, saying today that it has released a product that targets 3G handsets. QLogic Gets Veritas Certification
Aliso Viejo-based QLogic, a designer of products for the storage area networking market, said today that its QLogic SANbox 6140 intelligent storage router has received qualification from Vertias NetBackup, a leading backup software package.
