Clupedia Raises $1.3M
Santa Ana-based Clupedia has completed its angel round with the Tech Coast Angels, the firm said this week, in a Series A round that included 45 angels in the group. The firm's CEO, David Saad, said that the board now includes John Harbison, Sid Mohasseb, and Johannes Larcher. Saad has invested $2.3M in his own money in the firm. RoyaltyShare Buys IDEA
San Diego-based RoyaltyShare said today that it has acquired Los Angeles-based Independent Digital Entertainment & Arts LLC (IDEA), a provider of outsourced content management services for the music industry. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. RoyaltyShare said that it will use the acquisition to expand its services to include digital content management and delivery services, and that it will continue to maintain IDEA's offices in West Hollywood. VMIX Signs Media General
San Diego-based VMIX has signed on yet another newspaper publisher as a customer, saying today that it will provide its services to Media General, which publishes The Tampa Tribune, The Richmond Times-Dispatch, and The Winston-Salem Journal. VMIX will add features for user-generated video, photos, blogs, and other community-driven content to the three papers. Xirrus Adds Power Over Gigabit Ethernet
Westlake Village-based Xirrus has rolled out a new, power-over-Gigabit Ethernet product, which adds the ability to remotely power its line of Wi-Fi equipment. Xirrus said today its new remote power solution provides power over up to 100 meters of Category 5e or Category 6 Ethernet cabling. Remote power solutions enable equipment to tap power directly from Ethernet cabling, removing the need for local power connections and simplifying power and wiring for installations. Smith Micro In Licensing Agreement With Wavecom
Aliso Viejo-based Smith Micro Software said today that Wavecom S.A., a provider of embedded wireless communications products, has selected the firm's Insignia Mobile Device Management technology. The firm's wireless management software will be used by Wavecom S.A. in its machine-to-machine device management service, which is used by equipment manufacturers and service providers to run remote diagnostics, upgrade applications and firmware, and add features to their products via wireless connectio (More info...)

Sendio Updates Email Appliance
Irvine-based Sendio unveiled an upgrade to the firm's email filtering appliance today, saying that its updated Sendio I.C.E. Box service appliance now supports outbound message stream management, attachment handling, and an upgraded anti-virus engine. The company's appliance is used for filtering email before it reaches a company's email server. The firm said that the update is in field trials and will ship to customers in June.
