Amgen Buys Alantos Pharmaceuticals
Thousand Oaks-based Amgen has made yet another acquisition this week, saying Wednesday that it has acquired Alantos, a company developing drugs for the treatment of diabetes and inflammatory disease. The deal is worth $300M in cash, and is expected to close in Q3 of 2007. Alantos has locations in Cambridge, Massachusetts and Heidelberg Germany, and employs 45. Teleflip Intros Email Service
Santa Monica-based Teleflip, a startup developing mobile phone services, said Tuesday that it has launched a new service that allows people to receive email on any mobile phone. The firm's new service, flipMail, allows cell phone users to receive emails on their cell phones. The company said that the service does not require special software and does not require a smart phone. The firm said its new service supports any POP, IMAP, or webmail email account. EBay Makes Bid For Radio, Taps Bid4Spots
EBay is tapping Encino-based Bid4Spots in a new service that allows advertisers to bid for radio advertisements. The new Ebay service was expected to launch today as part of eBay's Media Marketplace. Encino-based Bid4Spots operates an online weekly auction of radio airtime, which is a reverse auction of unsold advertising space. The launch of the service puts Ebay head to head with Google in taking on radio advertising, which operates a version of the firm's popular AdSense advertising program (More info...)

MusicIP Inks Deal With Memorex
Monrovia, California-based MusicIP, a provider of music discovery technology, has inked a deal with Memorex to provide its music discovery technology in a line of new digital audio players. Memorex said today that it has launched a new line of audio players which can automatically create dynamic playlists based on a user's mood. the new music players include 4GB, 2GB, and 1GB models with support for MP3 and WMA audio. New Sun Nutrition Finds $25M
Santa Barbara-based New Sun Nutrition, a developer and distributor of health drinks and nutritional supplements, said today that it has raised $25M in a Series A round from Oak Investment Partners. The round also included investments from Radar Partners and Thomas Weisel, chairman and CEO of Thomas Weisel Partners. New Sun Nutrition develops a energy beverage called FRS. LegalZoom Names Suh CEO
Los Angeles-based LegalZoom.com has named John Suh as CEO of the firm, the company said Tuesday. Suh, who has served at Chairman of the firm since 2005, is switching places with Brian Liu, the firm's current CEO; Liu is being appointed to Chairman of the firm. Vitesse Names New Auditors
Camarillo-based Vitesse Semiconductor announced that it has appointed BDO Seidman, LLP as its new, independent registered public accounting firm. Vitesse said that BDO Seidman will audit its financial statements for the fiscal years 2006 and 2007. Vitesse has been struggling to resolve its financial state after a delisting by Nasdaq, investigation by the SEC, and earnings restatements. The firm designs high performance semiconductors for the storage and communications markets.

Networkcar, GE Motor Club In Deal
San Diego-based Networkcar, a provider of wireless vehicle tracking services, said today that it has partnered with GE Motor Club to enhance GE's emergency roadside asssistance services. Networkcar's GPS location tracking and telematics technology will be integrated into GE's call centers. The technology will allow GE Motor Club to immediately locate and dispatch services to its subscribers. Tickets.com Adds Teams
Costa Mesa-based Tickets.com has added two professional baseball teams as customers of its ticketing products, the firm announced this morning. The company said that it has signed The Evansville Otters and Southern Illinois Miners as customers. Both teams are part of the Frontier League. Both teams will use Ticket.com's online ticket sales product. Tickets.com is a subsidiary of MLB Advanced Media LP, Major League Baseball's interactive media firm.
