Sonos Closing $6M In Series B Funding
Santa Barbara-based Sonos, the developer of a wireless, digital music streaming system, is prepping to close a $6M Series B funding round, socalTECH has learned. The funding is coming from its existing backer, BV Capital, along with other unnamed investors. A spokesperson for the firm confirmed the funding Thursday. ContentNext Adds Kramer To Board
Santa Monica-based ContentNext, an online publisher which publishes PaidContent, MocoNews, and ContentSutra, has appointed Larry Kramer, former president of CBS Digital Media, to its board of directors. Kramer is currently an advisor to CBS on interactive matters, and was president of CBS Digital Media from March 2005 until November 2006. Kramer also founded MarketWatch, Inc. Warner, AnywhereCD Settle Dispute
Warner Music Group and San Diego-based AnywhereCD, an online music distribution service, said today that the two companies have settled lawsuits the two had filed against each other over the terms of a content agreement. AnywhereCD was launched in April by Michael Robertson, the founder of MP3.com, as a service to allow users to purchase a bundled offering of physical CDs and corresponding MP3 downloads from Warner. CallWave Adds Google Widget
Santa Barbara-based CallWave has rolled a widget that allows access to the company's voicemail services on Google's personalized home pages, the firm announced Thursday. The new software allows users to see if new messages have arrived through Callwave's voicemail services. CallWave's services are aimed at mobile phone users who want to manage their mobile voicemail with their computer, and can send text messages, emails, and rough transcriptions of voicemail content to users.

IMC Networks Rolls Powered Ethernet Switch
Foothill Ranch-based IMC Networks announced Wednesday that it has released a new Ethernet switch designed for powering itself directly from an Ethernet connection. The new switch supports the Power over Ethernet standard, which allows equipment to use power directly from Ethernet connections, eliminating the need for additional power to devices. IMC's new PD-Switch supports a number of RJ-45 and optical connector options, prioritization of traffic and QoS features.

Farstone Signs New Customer
Irvine-based FarStone Technology, a company which develops software for system recovery and backup, has signed on a new customer, Mirus Innovations. FarStone said that Mirus is shipping the firm's DriveClone System Recovery software with its desktop and laptop computers using Windows XP and Vista. DriveClone is being used to include factory backup images and allow users to recover their systems from system and data loss. Mirus Innovations is a manufacturer of computer products.
