GenVault Ups Round
Carlsbad-based GenVault, a company developing technology that allows biological samples to be stored at room temperature, announced Monday that it has added $1.5M in venture capital funding to the firm's recently announced round. The additional funding came from Cross Creek Capital, an affiliate of Wasatch Advisors, Inc. The new funding will go towards development and marketing of its products. Sopheon Buys Alignent Software
Sopheon, a Minnesota-based software and services provider, said Monday morning that it has acquired Carlsbad-based Alignent Software, in a cash deal worth $5.5M. According to Sopheon, the deal includes $4.75M initially upon closing, plus $750,000 in potential earn out. Carlsbad-based Alignent develops product and technology roadmapping software used for strategic planning. The deal is expected to close on or about June 18. FastSoft Scores $4M
Monrovia-based FastSoft, a Caltech spinoff developing Internet traffic acceleration technology, announced today that it has raised $4M in a venture capital round from Miramar Venture Partners. The firm said the Series A funding will go towards accelerating sales and marketing and further product development. FastSoft is commercializing TCP/IP software algorithms that dramatically accelerate transfer of files and data over the Internet. IBM Buys Telelogic
IBM announced today that it acquiring Malmo, Sweden-based Telelogic AB, a provider of software development products, in a deal worth approximately $745M in cash. Telelogic has major operations and U.S. headquarters in Irvine, California. Telelogic provides product development and modeling software used in designing complex systems, including aircraft and automobiles. MyNextDeal Inks Deal With Catylist
Thousand Oaks-based MyNextDeal.com, an online vertical search engine for the commercial real estate industry, announced today that the firm has partnered with Catylist, a provider of commercial information technology for the commercial real estate market. MyNextDeal said it will aggregate and index commercial properties listed at Catylist, and will redirect queries for listings back to Catylist. MyNextDeal is an aggregator of commercial real estate listings.

Gizmo Adds AOL IM and MSN Messenger Support
San Diego-based SIPphone, the voice-over-IP software provider behind the Gizmo Project, said today that it has added AOL Instant Messenger and MSN Messenger support to its software. Users can send and receive messages, and view connectivity information with those instant messaging networks. SIPphone provides VoIP software and calling services using the SIP standard, and is headed by former MP3.com founder Michael Robertson.

Yahoo Launches Celebrity Site
Yahoo said today that it has launched omg! a destination site focused on celebrities. The new web site, at www.omg.yahoo.com, features celebrity news and information, photos, video, and news sort by celebrity. The new effort, which comes out of Yahoo! Entertainment, will tap NBC's Access Hollywood as its primary content provider.

DivX Names Halvorson As CFO
San Diego-based DivX announced Monday morning that it has hired Dan L. Halvorson as the firm's Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Halvorson was most recently CFO of Novatel Wireless. Halvorson has been at Novatel Wireless since early 2000, and has also been ad Dura Pharmaceuticals and Alliance Pharmaceuticals. DivX is a developer of video compression and decompression software.
