AssistMed Buys Software Firm
Los Angeles-based AssistMed, a systems integrator and developer for the online transcription and electronic health record market, said yesterday that it has acquired Clinication, a provider of software for patient adherence management. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Clinication's software is used for helping patients follow long-term medication and self-care regimens. CircleUp Raises $3M
Los Angeles-based CircleUp, a firm that operates an online service focused on "social communications," is announcing today that it has raised $3M in a venture capital round. The funding is being led by Sid R. Bass Associates, which contributed $2.5M to the round. John Payne, CEO of the firm, told socalTECH that there are no other institutional participants in the venture capital round, but that the firm's initial seed funders also participated. Break.com, G4 Premier Animated Series
Los Angeles-based online entertainment site Break.com, and G4, a unit of Comcast, said today that the two are premiering an original animated series on Break.com. The new series, "Code Monkeys" is centered around videogame technology and pop culture, and will feature special voice guest appearances from Steve Wozniak and Nolan Bushnell. Break.com is an online entertainment site focused on video and images. The site targets the young, male demographic.

Citrix Online Signs On EarthLink
Santa Barbara-based Citrix Online, a provider of remote collaboration tools and online web conferencing services, said today that EarthLink will expand its offerings from Citrix. EarthLink has offered the Citrix GoToMyPC solution since 2002; the ISP will now also allow its users to conduct meetings and host events using the Citrix GoToMeeting and GoToWebinar products. Terms of the business arrangement were not given.

Occam Networks Adds Puerto Rico Customer
Santa Barbara-based Occam Networks said Monday that it has signed on a customer in Puerto Rico for its telecommunications equipment. Centennial de Puerto Rico, which Occam says is the second largest telecommunications provider in the commonwealth, has selcted its systems as part of an expansion of its fiber-to-the-business solution. Financial terms of the win were not announced. Occam Networks is a provider of broadband connectivity equipment for telecommunications providers.

Emulex Gets Design Win With Stratus
Costa Mesa-based Emulex, a provider of Fibre Channel storage networking equipment, said today that Stratus Technologies has chosen one of the firm's embedded storage switches for use in a storage system. Stratus will use the Emulex FibreSpy Model 850 embedded storage switch for use in its ftServer V storage product. Emulex's FibreSpy switches are used by storage manufacturers to build large storage arrays and to connect back-end storage devices.
