Transpera Announces Funding
Santa Monica-based Transpera has confirmed the firm's funding, saying Tuesday that it has raised a round of venture capital from First Round Capital, IDG Ventures, and Intel Capital. Transpera is developing next generation mobile video products, and is headed by Frank Barbieri. Transpera said that its products will allow people enjoy their favorite online video on their phones, send on-line video to their handsets, and post videos from their phones directly to the web. Siafu Software Acquired By Hifn
Poway-based Siafu Software, a developer of low-cost, iSCSI storage appliances, has been acquired by Hifn. Hifn said Monday that it acquired the business of Siafu, but did not disclose financial terms of the deal. The firm said that the firm will continue to support Siafu's existing channel organization and customers, and will "take full advantage" of the Siafu's software team. Hifn is a provider of data encryption and compression tools.

DivX Spins Out Digital Media Firm
San Diego-based DivX, a provider of video encoding technology, said today that it is planning to spin out its Stage6, social media site as a private company. The firm said that it is looking to maximize the value and growth potential of the company by focusing on its technology licensing business. Stage6, which provides social media and video sharing, will be headed by DivX co-founder Jordan Greenhall, who will be stepping down as CEO of DivX. ViaSat Buys Satellite Antenna Firm
Carlsbad-based ViaSat, a developer of products for the satellite and digital communications industry, said this morning that it has acquired JAST Antenna Systems, a privately held developer of microwave circuits and antennas for terrestrial and satellite applications. The deal was worth $2.0M in cash plus up to $4.5M in earn out over the next two years. ViaSat said that it expects to complete the acquisition in the next 30 days. Tickets.com Launches Into Singapore With Franchise Deal
Costa Mesa-based Tickets.com said today that it has expanded into Singapore, as part of a deal with Quebec Leisure International Pte Ltd. Quebec Leisure will become a franchisee of Tickets.com, and will provide ticketing services in Singapore. Financial details of the franchise deal were not disclosed. Commission Junction Opens APIs
Westlake Village-based Commission Junction, a provider of affiliate marketing services for e-commerce web sites, said today that it has released two new web services APIs. The APIs (application programming interfaces) can be used by web publisheers to pull daily and real-time commission data from Commission Junction's services. Inphi Taps Agilent For CEO
Westlake Village-based Inphi said today that it has appointed a Young K. Sohn as CEO of the company, which provides high speed integrated circtuis. Sohn joins the firm from Agilent Technologies, where he was president of the firm's Semiconductor Group. Sohn has also served as chairman and CEO of Oak Technology, and co-president of data storage firm Quantum Corporation.
