QLogic Sells Compiler Business To SiCortex
Maynard, Mass.-based SiCortex, a developer of Linux clustering products, said earlier this week that it has purchased Aliso Viejo-based QLogic's PathScale compiler business. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. PathScale develops C, C++, and Fortran 95 compilers for 64-bit Linux computer systems. QLogic's PathScale business was purchased by the firm in February of 2006, in a $109M cash deal, for PathScale's Infiniband clustering interconnect technology.

Verimatrix Sued By Widevine
Widevine, a Seattle-based provider of digital content security products, said Thursday that it has filed a patent infringement suit against San Diego-based Verimatrix, a developer of technology for protecting digital content. Widevine claims that its Verimatrix Content Authority System infringes one of the firm's patents, and that Verimatrix has willingly infringed on the firm's patent rights. Visual Sciences Upgrades PPC Bid Management Software
San Diego-based Visual Sciences, a provider of web analytics software, said Thursday that it has upgraded the firm's keyword bid management product, Visual Sciences Bid 2.0. The upgraded software adds support for Yahoo, along with budgeting, international character support, and other enhancements. Visual Sciences, which until recently was known as WebSideStory, said that the Yahoo support comes on top of the firm's existing support for Google AdWords in the tool. Semicoa Names CEO
Costa Mesa-based Semicoa, a manufacturer of transistors for the high reliability and space market, said this week that it has named Perry Denning as CEO. Denning has served at inSilica, IC Media, VLSI Technology, and other firms. Semicoa said that Denning brings more than 37 years of experience in the semiconductor industry to the firm.

Vigilistics Promotes Exec
Mission Viejo-based Vigilistics, an angel-backed provider of software for the food and dairy industry, said Thursday that it has promoted Ron Huffman to Director of Operations. Huffman has also served at Bimbo Bakeries. Vigilistics has received angel investment from the Tech Coast Angels.
