RotoHog.com Launches Fantasy Football Site
Los Angeles-based Rotohog.com said today that it has launched a new, online fantasy football league along with former NFL running back Marshall Faulk. The new site said it will award cash and prizes to participants who enter their fantasy teams. Rotohog.com also revealed that it has received funding from Allen & Co, DJF DragonFund, Mission Ventures, and SCP Worldwide, although no details of that funding were released. Southern California Firms Raise $933M In Venture Capital In Q2
PricewaterhouseCoopers and the National Venture Capital Association (NVCA) have released their Q2 2007 venture capital report, finding that there was $993M in venture capital raised by Southern California firms this quarter. Southern California, including Los Angeles, Orange County, and San Diego regions defined by the study, again ranked number two in the nation in terms of dollar volume in venture capital. EdgeCast Launches CDN
Los Angeles-based EdgeCast Networks said this morning that it has launched a new content delivery network, focused on rich media. The firm said that it maintains points of presence in San Jose, Los Angeles, Ashburn VA, Chicago, Dallas, Atlanta, Seattle, London, Frankfurt, Hong Kong, Tokyo and Sydney. The firm said that its CDN services are already being used by IMAX.

The Active Network Acquires LaxPower.com
San Diego-based The Active Network said today that it has acquired LaxPower.com, a West Chester, PA-based online community focused on high school and college lacrosse. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. LaxPower.com provides lacross rankings, results, states, news, and information for high school lacrosse. SureFire Lands Investment
Fountain Valley-based SureFire LLC, a manufacturer of compact, high performance flashlights, weapons, and tactical equipment, said today that it has received an investment from Broadsword Partners, Brooklyn NY Holdings, and Goldman, Sachs & Co. Amount of the investment was not disclosed. The firm said it will use the funding to accelerate the company's growth. SureFire's products are targeted at the outdoors, military, law enforcement, and other areas.

Cornerstone OnDemand Signs Housing Provider
Santa Monica-based Cornerstone OnDemand, a provider of software used for human resources management, said today that the firm's product has been selected by Oakwood Worldwide, a provider of temporary housing. Cornerstone said that its product will be used for training and learning by Oakwood's employees. The software is being used to track employee training for things such as certification training. Financial size of the deal was not disclosed.

BasePoint Analytics Ties Into Mortgage Screening Firm
Carlsbad-based BasePoint Analytics, a provider of predictive fraud analytics tools, said today that it has integrated one of its products with the Bohan Group, which provides residential mortgage due diligence products. The company's tools will be used to identify loans with high fraud risk. According to Basepoint Analytics, the tool will be used to identify loans within existing portfolios with a high likelihood of default, before delinquency occurs. Inphi Looks To Hire 100 In Silicon Valley
Westlake Village-based Inphi, a provider of high speed semiconductors, said today that it is expanding into Silicon Valley with a new design center. Inphi said that the new design center will allow it to synchronize its development with its Silicon Valley partners and customers, and also capitalize on its talent and knowledge. ESET Launches Online Virus Scanner
San Diego-based ESET said today it has launched a new, free web-based service which allows users to scan and disinfect computer sytsems. The firm also said that new online anti-virus tool also detects spyware and other malware loaded on a computer. The free tool is available on ESET's web site. ESET is a provider of antivirus, anti-spyware, and other computer security software.
