Caltech Powers Google Sky
Pasadena-based Caltech is helping to power part of Google's new astronomy features on its Google Earth software, through images from the school's Palomar Observatory. Caltech said that Google is using digital versions of sky surveys conducted at Caltech's Palomar Observatory, the astronomy research observatory operated by Caltech in northern San Diego. Report Sees Growing Immigrant Entrepreneur "Brain Drain"
A new report released today by the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation, sees an entrepreneur "brain-drain" forming in the United States, as skilled workers are returning to their home countries. The study blamed the small number of permanent U.S. resident visas being issued each year, saying that more than one million skilled immigrant workers, including scientists, engineers, doctors, and researchers, are competing for only 120,000 visas each year. D2 Technologies Adds ARM Processor Support
Santa Barbara-based D2 Technologies, a provider of embedded software for the Voice-over-IP market, said Tuesday that it has expanded support for ARM microprocessors. The firm said that its software is now integrated with the popular ARM11 MPCore embedded processors, which are used by hardware designers for designing communications and other products. PriceGrabber.com Partners On Trust Certification
Los Angeles-based PriceGrabber.com, an online shopping comparison engine, said today that it is in a partnership with ScanAlert's HACKER SAFE, a security certification service. PriceGrabber.com said it will integrate ScanAlert's HACKER SAFE security trustmark into product search result pages. The seals are an indication of security certification of vendors. PriceGrabber.com is a unit of Experian Interactive.

Bluebeam Ties Into Construction Publisher
Pasadena-based Bluebeam Software, a provider of software for creating PDF markups, said this morning that The Blue Book of Building and Construction, a provider of information for the construction industry, has integrated its software into its web site. According to Bluebeam, users of the Blue Book's web site can now open, view, add markups, and save documents in The Blue Book's online bid management service. eHarmony Releases Customer Numbers, Marriage Stats
Pasadena-based online dating and relationship site eHarmony said today that it has reached 17 million registered users for the company's service. The firm said that it saw a growth in its subscriber base by more than 30% year-to-year in the last six months, and said that on an average day more than 90 eHarmony members marry as a result of being matched on the site. eHarmony runs a online dating site that uses computerized models to match up users the company feels are most compatible.

mobileStorm Hires Sales and Marketing VP
Los Angeles-based mobileStorm, a provider of email marketing and other services, said Tuesday that it has named a new Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing. The firm has tapped Ric Hattabaugh to the position. Hattabaugh was most recently VP of Sales and Marketing at Topica. The firm also said yesterday that it has added a number of customers to its client roster, including The Dog Whisperer, Motocross.com, GameFactory, Hot Dog On a Stick, and Planet Funk.
