Internet Brands Buys ePodunk.com
Los Angeles-based Internet Brands said Tuesday afternoon that the firm has acquired ePodunk.com, an online web site focused on profiling communities across the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Xirrus Deploys At Resort
Westlake Village-based Xirrus, Inc., a provider of Wi-Fi networking products, announced Tuesday that it has deployed its Wi-Fi array products at the Amelia Island Plantation Resort. Financial details of the customer win were not announced. Xirrus said its products will be used to provide wireless connectivity to guests and hotel staff through its conference facility, spa and cafe areas. Xirrus is venture backed by August Capital and US Venture Partners.

SyncCast Acquired By Thomson
Anaheim-based SyncCast, a provider of content delivery network services for broadband media, has been acquired by Thomson and its Technicolor service business, Thomson said this morning. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Thomson said that it acquired SyncCast as part of an effort to roll out new digital production and online distribution solutions for its customers. Leap Wireless Gets Merger Proposal From MetroPCS
Texas-based MetroPCS Communications, a provider of wireless communications services, said this morning that it has proposed a strategic, stock-for-stock, tax-free merger with San Diego's Leap Wireless. MetroPCS said it is looking to pay approximately $5.5B for Leap Wireless, in a stock-for-stock exchange of 2.75 shares of its stock for each share of Leap common stock. Clupedia Raises $1.3M
Santa Ana-based Clupedia has raised $1.3M in a Series A round, the company formally announced Monday. The round came from the Tech Coast Angels, and closed in late 2006. The Pasadena Angels and Frontera Group also participated in the funding. Clupedia has developed a browser-based toolbar that allows users to comment on any web page. Sid Mohasseb, Johannes Larcher, and Lance Stuart have joined the firm's board of directors along with the funding.

Ixia Names President, COO
Calabasas-based Ixia, a provider of network testing software and hardware, said today that it has named Atul Bhatnagar as President and COO, a new position at the firm. Bhatnagar will report to CEO Errol Ginsberg, and also joins the firm's board of directors. According to Ixia, Bhatnagar will assume responsibility for day-to-day operations at the company. Xytech Revs Digital Asset Management Tools
Burbank-based Xytech Systems Corporation, a provider of software tools for the digital asset management market, said this morning that it has rolled out the latest version of its Xytech Enterprise software. MusicIP Names New CEO
Monrovia-based music recommendation software firm MusicIP said this morning that it has named Andrew Stess as CEO fo the firm. Stess replaces Matthew Dunn. Stess also joins the firm's board of directors.
