Merck Completes NovaCardia Buy
Merck & Co. announced Tuesday that it has completed its acquisition of San Diego-based NovaCardia. The deal, which was worth $366.4M in stock, adds NovaCardia's treatments for acute heart failure to Merck's pipeline. The deal was announced in July. NovaCardia was venture backed by Domain Associates, Forward Ventures, Montreux Equity Partners, Versant Ventures, Skyline Ventures, and InterWest Partners.

My Damn Channel Adds MySpace Partnership
My Damn Channel, the bi-coastal online entertainment studio funded by Okapi Venture Capital, said today that it has signed a content partnership with social networking web site MySpace. My Damn Channel said that it will provide its content to the MySpace community through a dedicated video channel. Comarco Looks For Buyer
Lake Forest-based Comarco, a provider of wireless test products and power adapters for notebook computers, mobile phones, and other electronic products, said this morning that it has engaged investment bank Pagemill Partners as a financial advisor. Comarco said that Pagemill will assist the firm in "evaluating and pursuing strategic alternatives to improve shareholder value." Palo Alto-based Pagemill Partners providers merger and acquisition advisory to middle market firms.

Aristos Logic Appoints Chairman
Foothill Ranch-based Aristos Logic, a provider of RAID storage products, said Monday that it has appointed Young K. Sohn as its chairman. Sohn is currently CEO of Inphi Corp, and was past President of Semiconductor Products at Agilent Technologies. RF Industries Buys RadioMobile
San Diego-based RF Industries, Ltd. said Monday that it has acquired RadioMobile, a San Diego-based supplier and system integrator of wireless data and transceiver products. The deal was worth approximately $700K; RF industries said that RadioMobile had revenues exceeding $700,000 since January. RF Industries is a distributor of RF connectors and cable assemblies; RadioMobile is a provider of software and wireless equipment for wireless networks.

Smith Micro, VMware Team On Mac Software
Aliso Viejo-based Smith Micro Software said today that it has signed a deal with virtualization software firm VMware, to offer VMware's Fusion product for Mac users. Smith Micro will distribute VMware's software, which allows Macintosh users to run Windows software on a Macintosh, through its web site and retail channels. Xirrus Signs Conference Center
Westlake Village-based Xirrus, a developer of Wi-Fi networking products, said today that it has signed on the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) as a customer of its products. The ITU is deploying the Xirrus Wi-Fi array products as part of a conference center in Geneva in October. Financial terms of the deal were not announced. Power-One Licenses Technology to Murat
Camarillo-based Power-One, a designer of power supplies and power conversion products, said today that it has agreed to transfer a license to Murata. The license covers POwer-One's Z-One digital power management products, and was part of a purchase of C and D Technologies by Murata. C and D, based in Pennsylvania, sold its power management group to Murata in August.
