Green Dot Inks Deal With Chase Paymentech
Monrovia, California-based Green Dot Corporation, a provider of prepaid debit cards which is venture backed by Sequoia Capital and the Tech Coast Angels, has inked an agreement with merchant payment services firm Chase Paymentech. Chase Paymentech said that it will offer its merchants the ability to accept cash transactions by accepting Green Dot's stored value MoneyPak products. Green Dot's payment cards allow users to load cash onto prepaid cards, and are sold at retail outlets and drugstores (More info...)

Buzznet Hires AOL Music Exec
Hollywood-based Buzznet, an online social networking site focused on music, said Monday that it has hired Scott Boyd, formerly the managing director of AOL Music, as the firm's General Manager of Music. Buzznet said that Boyd will be responsible for all aspects of the firm's music content, production, and programming. US SEARCH Acquired By Venture Capital Firm
Los Angeles-based US SEARCH, the consumer unit of Florida-based First Advantage, has been acquired by Silicon Valley venture capital firm Highland Capital Partners. Fabrik Launches Online Backup Service
Santa Ana- and San Mateo-based Fabrik, the startup which purchased the storage business and brand of Santa Ana-based flash memory provider SimpleTech in May, said today that it has launched an online storage and backup software called Fabrik Ultimate Backup. Quest Adds Unix Compliance Software
Aliso Viejo-based Quest Software announced this morning that it has tapped a Pittsburgh-based software firm to expand its Unix compliance software capabilities. Quest and PassGo Technologies said today that Quest will offer PassGo's software under its own brand, to provide its customers with Unix compliance and audit capability for user accounts. MediKeeper Raises Series A Round
San Diego-based MediKeeper said late Friday that it has closed a Series A investment round, led by PacifiCap, a Hawaii-based venture capital firm. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. MediKeeper is a provider of web-based, electronic health records software, and was founded in 2003. MediKeeper said that as part of the funding, it will establish a research and development lab in Hawaii.

Aristos Ships RAID Chip
Foothill Ranch-based Aristos Logic said today that it has begun shipping a new, single-chip RAID product for the storage industry. Aristos said its new product, the AL3450 UltraSlice-MPX, is the third generation of the firm's RAID storage processor technology. Aristos chips are used by storage and computing manufacturers to provide RAID capability to their products. RAID is used to protect against disk drive failures in storage arrays. Conexant Gets Win With Set Top Box Provider
Newport Beach-based Conexant said today that the firm's MPEG decoders have been selected by a Chinese manufacturer of set-top boxes. Conexant announced that Skyworth Digital will use the firm's cable set-top-box MPEG decoder for a family of digital video broadcast receivers for the Chinese marketplace. Arkeia Rolls Out Storage Management Software
San Diego-based Arkeia Software, a provider of storage backup software, said this morning that it has released new software into general availability. The firm said that its new Central Management Server software can be used to manage the firm's EdgeFort backup and recovery appliances through a single centralized console.
