Emulex, Nuova Collaborate On Ethernet Storage Products
Costa Mesa-based Emulex and Nuova Systems said earlier this week that Emulex will use Nuova's technology to develop a family of Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) products. The new products will allow users to transport Fibre Channel traffic over Ethernet networks, and are expected to be available in sample quantities in the first half of 2008. T2 Funds Water Purification Firm
T2 Venture Capital, the venture capital spinout of Larta Institute, has re-upped in a venture investment in Stonybrook Purification, a New York-based firm developing clean water purification systems. Stonybrook said this week that it has raised $4.1M in a Series A investment, which came from Battery Ventures, along with Modern Water and TianDi Growth Capital. T2 Venture Capital was the original investor in Stonybrook Purification, and T2's Victor Hwang also serves as interim CEO of the Stony Bro (More info...)

RF Nano Adds Marketing VP
Newport Beach-based RF Nano, a firm developing carbon nanotube products for the CMOS semiconductor industry, has hired on a new Vice President of Marketing. Peter Kempf has been appointed to the position, and joins the company from CardioCura. Kempf has also served at Conexant, where he was VP of Marketing and Business Development, and has previously been at McKinsey & Company and Morgan Stanley. Oversee's SnapNames Goes Into Live Auctions
SnapNames, the domain name aftermarket service owned by Los Angeles-based Oversee.net, said Thursday that it will debut a new live auction system for domains in January. The new service will allow buyers of domain names to bid in a live auction, and will focus on premium domain names in the SnapNames service. According to Oversee, the live auction system will be called SnapNames Live, and will debut at its upcoming DOMAINfest Global event in January. Gemstar-TV Guide Signs European Licensees
Los Angeles-based Gemstar-TV Guide International has signed on three new companies as licensees of its patents, the firm said Thursday. The companies include three German companies, Loewe Opta GmbH, Metz-Werke GmbH & Co. KG and KATHREIN-Werke KG, who are all licensing Gemstar TV-Guide's patents for use in televisions, records, and set-top boxes. Financial terms of the deals were not disclosed.
