Venture Capital Deals Total $7.1B In Q3
PricewaterhouseCoopers and the National Venture Capital Association reported over the weekend that nationwide, venture capital deals totaled $7.1B in 887 deals for the third quarter. The firms, which released their PwC/NVC MoneyTree Report, based on data from Thomson Financial over the weekend, reported that Southern California saw nearly $784.4M in venture deals for the quarter. MySpace Launches 'Roommates' Web Series
Los Angeles-based MySpace said today that it has launched a new, online scripted web series called Roommates. The firm said that the series is the company's first co-development project, and the first original web series created specifically for the firm's MySpaceTV site. The series debuts today on MySpaceTV. MySpace said that the series was developed in collaboration with Iron Sink Media, and is sponsored by the 2008 Ford Focus. RoyaltyShare Boosts Funding By $4M
San Diego-based RoyaltyShare, a provider of digital music royalty tracking services, said today that it has raised $4M in a Series B funding round. The new funding came from Bertelsmann Digital Media Investments and Trident Capital. The additional capital from Bertelsmann comes on top of $5M from Trident in the Series B, which was originally announced in April. MoGreet Gets $1.2M
Los Angeles-based MoGreet, a stealth company in the area of mobile video messaging, has quietly raised at least $1.2M in venture capital from DFJ Frontier. DFJ Frontier, which is an affiliate of Draper Fisher Jurvetson, added MoGreet to its portfolio sometime in August; the recent PwC/NVCA MoneyTree Report pegged the investment at $1.2M. Siimpel Raises $21.5M
Arcadia-based Siimpel, a manufacturer and designer of optical switching components and subsystems, has quietly raised $21.5M in venture funding. The round has not been announced, but was disclosed in the quarterly PwC/NVCA MoneyTree Report over the weekend. Siimpel had previously raised $20M in a venture round in November of 2005. Siimpel was formerly known as SiWave.

Napster Signs AT&T
Los Angeles-based digital music service Napster has inked a deal with AT&T Wireless, the firms said over the weekend. At&T said Sunday that its wireless customers will be able to download and search for music using Napster's Mobile service, starting in mid-November. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. AT&T will provide a discounted download plan for its subscribers who use the Napster service. AT&T Wireless currently also provides access to digital music download service eMusic. Kyriba Adds Liz Claiborne As Customer
San Diego-based Kyriba, a provider of web-based software for cash and treasury management, said today that it has been selected by Liz Claiborne. Financial deals of the customer win were not announced. Kyriba said that its system will be used to consolidate data from Liz Claiborne's global banking relationships and to manage the firm's working capital. Kyriba is venture backed by GRP Partners and BRED Banque Populaire, among other investors.

Networks In Motion Trumpets Subscriber Numbers
Aliso Viejo-based Networks In Motion said this morning that it has signed up more than two million paid users of the firm's location based navigation and local search services. The firm offers a subscription turn-by-turn, voice-prompted navigation service via wireless phone.
