InTouch Technologies Raises $7.2M
Santa Barbara-based InTouch Technologies, which develops remote presence technology and robots for healthcare, has quietly raised $7.274M in venture funding. The funding was disclosed in both regulatory filings as well as the latest PwC/NVCA MoneyTree venture capital report. Details of the funding have not been released by the company, however it has previously received venture backing from Galen Partners, Acacia Venture Partners, and InvestCare Partners. Evolution Robotics, Wowwee To Launch Robot Products
Pasadena-based Evolution Robotics and toy maker Wowwee Limited said today that the two are in a joint agreement to launch a new category of entertainment robots and robotic toys. The two companies said that they will release at least three products in 2009 based on Evolution Robotics' technology, with additional products under development. JibJab Pulls In $3M
Santa Monica-based online animation and comedy content firm JibJab has raised an additional $3M in funding, according to both the recently released PricewaterhouseCoopers/NVCA MoneyTree report, and regulatory filings. According to PEHub, citing the firm's regulatory filings, the funding came from Polaris Venture Partners, the firm's existing investor. Xencor Raises $15M
Monrovia, California-based Xencor said this morning that it has raised an additional $15M in its Series E round, bringing its total raised in the round to $60M. Xencor said the additional capital came from Oxford Bioscience Partners and Merlin Nexus, along with existing investor Novo Nordisk. The firm announced the first close of its Series E in October of last year. Activision, Audiokinetic In Partnership
Santa Monica-based video game firm Activision said today that it is in an agreement with Audiokinetic, to integrate Audiokinetic's WaveWorks Interactive Sound Engine into its gaming titles. Financial terms were not disclosed. Activision said that the deal will allow it to streamline its audio production across multiple platforms. Illumina Sued By Affymetrix, Again
San Diego-based Illumina, a developer of life sciences research tools, has been named a defendant in patent suits filed by Affymetrix in Delaware, The United Kingdom, and Germany. Illumina and Affymetrix have been in a patent battle since 2004. Illumina said in a statement that it believes the claims to be unfounded, and that it believes that it does not infringe any valid claims of the patents named by Affymetrix. Both Affymetrix and Illumina develop tools used for gene sequencing.

Ixia Gets IPTV Certification
Calabasas-based Ixia, a developer of testing systems for networking equipment, said Wednesday that it has certified its IPTV test products with SeaChange. SeaChange is a provider of IPTV and other on-demand television systems. Ixia said that its IxLoad IPTV testing application has been certified for use with SeaChange's VOD and IPTV systems. The certification means that SeaChange customers will be able to use Ixia's test tools to test their IPTV networks.

Qualcomm Announced Notebook Chip
San Diego-based Qualcomm said Wednesday that it has introduced a new embedded chip focused on providing Internet and GPS capability to notebook computers. Qualcomm said its new Gobi product allows notebooks to connect to high-speed mobile Internet services, including CDMA2000 EV-DO and UMTS HSPA networks.
