Visual Sciences Acquired By Omniture
San Diego-based Visual Sciences, a firm which provides web analytics services to companies, has been acquired by Utah-based competitor Omniture. Omniture said late Thursday that it will pay a combined $394M in stock and cash for Visual Sciences, made up for $2.39 per share in cash plus 0.49 shares of its stock for each share of Visual Sciences. The transaction is expected to close in early to mid 2008. Visual Sciences was formerly known as WebSideStory.

Every so often, we run into companies which have been around for awhile, haven't done much, but have suddenly taken on a new management team or direction as the investors have decided to change things around. Solarflare Quietly Adds $14.8M In Funding
Irvine-based Solarflare Communications, a developer of 10 Gigabit Ethernet over copper semiconductors, has quietly added another $14.8M to the company's coffers. The funding was disclosed in both a September 5th regulatory filing, as well as in numbers release in the PwC/NVCA MoneyTree report. No investors were disclosed, and the round has not been announced, however the firm has previously received backing from Oak Investment Partners, Foundation Capital, Accel Partners, Amadeus Capital Partne (More info...)

ThisNext Adds Site Statistics
Santa Monica-based ThisNext said this week that it has added a new, sitewide statistics feature to the firm's social shopping web site. The new statistics features, called the "Member Dashboard," shows real time feedback and rankings on members' product recommendations. According to ThisNext, the feature allows people to see how they rank in terms of product recommendations in the community; the company will provide special benefits, gifts, and other perks to the people with the highest ratings.

Aerovironment Gets Energy Win In Wisconsin
Monrovia, California-based Aerovironment, a developer of unmanned aircraft systems and energy systems, said Thursday that the firm has installed its wind energy systems at a Wisconsin manufacturer. The firm said that its Architectural Wind system has been installed at a Beloit, Wis. manufacturing facility owned by Kettle Foods. Financial size of the deal was not disclosed. 18 wind turbines, enough to generate 28,000 kW of power each year, have been installed at the plant. Aerovironment develops (More info...)
