Novalar Gets Investment
San Diego-based Novalar, a firm developing local dental anesthetic reversal agents, has raised a round of venture funding, according to venture firm New Enterprise Associates. Financial terms of the investment were not disclosed. NEA said that the round was a Series D funding, and that it has added Michael Raab to Novalar's board. Fluid Media Networks Acquires Trusonic
Los Angeles-based Fluid Media Networks said Thursday that it has acquired Trusonic, Inc., a provider of point-of-sale music distribution based in La Jolla, California. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Trusonic's products are used by retailers to control the broadcast of music in their retail locations, via an Internet-based hardware platform. Oplink Buys Optical Communications Products
Fremont-based Oplink Communications said Wednesday afternoon that it has completed the acquisition of the remaining 42 percent of outstanding common stock of Optilcal Communication Products, a Woodland Hills-based make of optical components. According to Oplink, it will pay approximately $80M, or $1.65 per share, to former holders of OCP's common stock for the firm. The merger was effective yesterday. Specific Media Gets $100M Funding
Irvine-based Specific Media said today that it has raised $100M in a funding from private equity firm Francisco Partners. The giant round of funding is the second round for the firm, and according to Specific Media will be specifically earmarked for acquisitions. The company said that it will also have access to further resources as necessary. Neil Garfinkel of Francisco Partners will join the company's board.
