North American Scientific Gets Debt Financing
Chatsworth-based North American Scientific, a manufacturer of implantable radioactive sources for the treatment of cancer, has received $1M in debt financing. According to Agility Capital, the provider of the funding, the debt facility is in the form of a tiered bridge loan. North American Scientific's products are used for treating prostate cancer, ocular melanoma and certain other diseases. Agility Capital is a provider of venture debt and other financing.

Interview with Stephen Stokols, WooMe
Stephen Stokols is CEO of WooMe (www.woome.com), a Los Angeles-based online, Web 2.0 dating site which has raised funding from Atomico, the investment fund run by Niklas Zennstrom, one of the founders of Skype. YouMail Raises $4.5M
Irvine-based customized voice mailbox company YouMail said this morning that it has raised $4.5M in a Series A investment, from VantagePoint Venture Partners. YouMail said that the funding will go towards the firm's product development and marketing initiatives, as well as towards expanding its management and development team. CinemaNow, Sonic Partner On Movie Downloads
Marina Del Rey-based CinemaNow and Sonic Solutions, a developer of media burning software, said today that the two are in a collaboration to allow consumers to legally burn entertainment onto recordable DVDs. According to the companies, CinemaNow will use Sonic's Qflix technology to encode video onto DVDs using the CSS encryption standard. DivX Names Hell As CEO
San Diego-based DivX said Monday afternoon that it has appointed Kevin Hell as the firm's new CEO and a member of its board of directors. Hell has been serving as action CEO at the company since July. Hell has been at DivX since 2002, and has previously served at Palm Solutions Group, Gateway, and the Boston Consulting Group. DivX is a developer of compression and decompression software for video.

Integrien Hires VP
Irvine-based Integrien said today that it has hired Dale Quayle as Executive Vice President, Sales and Field Operations at the firm. According to Integrien, Quayle was most recently senior vice president at Jonathan Engineered Solutions, and has also previously served as an executive at HP, Trinagy Corporation, and Artios Corporation. Integrien is a developer of software used for managing IT operations, and is venture backed by Clearstone Venture Partners and the Acartha Group.
