Solarflare, SMC Ship 10GBASE-T Products
Irvine-based semiconductor developer Solarflare Communications and SMC Networks, which is also based in Irvine, said today that the two have begun shipping new network interface cards (NICs) and network switches that use Solarflare's technology. The two said that they will begin shipping a 10GBASE-T NIC and switches beginning in Q4. The new products will allow companies to deploy 10 gigabit Ethernet over existing copper wiring. Kotura Names Operations Exec
Monterey Park-based Kotura, a provider of silicon photonic components, said yesterday that it has named Wayne White as its Vice President of Operations. White joins the company from Forza Silicon, where he was VP of Operations. White has also served at Luxtera, Photobit, Hughes Aircraft, and Motorola Semiconductor Products. Kotura designs photonics components used in communications, computing, sensing and detection applications.

Gorilla Nation Hires VP
Los Angeles-based Gorilla Nation, a provider of online ad representation for web sites, said Wednesday that it has hired Ari Lee Bayme as VP of Corporate Development. Bayme was most recently a investment banker with Milbank Roy & Co. Gorilla Nation said that Bayme will be responsible for evaluation and executions of acquisitions and strategic investments. Gorilla Nation raised $50M earlier this year in a venture round from Great Hill for its services, which it provides to online web publishers. (More info...)

Warner Buys "Lego Star Wars" Creator
Burbank-based Warner Bros. Home Entertainment Group said this morning that it is in an agreement to acquire TT Games, the developer of the popular computer games "LEGO Star Wars." Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. TT Games Publishing is based in the UK, and is the result of the merger of games developers Traveller's Tales and Giant Interactive Entertainment.
