Cyber Monday Totals Hit $733M
Internet measurement firm comScore reported Tuesday afternoon that Cyber Monday sales totals hit $733M, a record spending amount for online retailers on what is one of the busiest days of the year for online shopping. comScore said that the amount was a 21 percent increase in spending over last year, and brings the total spent online to more than $10.7 billion for the November - December 2007 holiday season, to date. comScore reported that the number of online buyers was up by 38 percent compare (More info...)

Google Ties Into eSolar With Energy Initiative
Internet search giant Google said Tuesday that it has launched a new, strategic initiative focused on developing renewable energy. As part of the effort, Google said that it is working with Pasadena-based eSolar, a maker of grid-scale, utility solar systems. eSolar is backed by Idealab, and counts Bill Gross as Chairman of the firm. XSCapacity Raises Funding Round
Irvine-based Venture Farm said Monday that it has invested in XSCapacity, a firm which provides an online marketplace for truck shipping capacity. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. XSCapacity allows ground freight shippers to post shipping requirements in an online marketplace, and get competitive bids from carriers. Venture Farm, which is headed by Sid Mohasseb, is a firm which targets the gap between angel and venture capital funding with both funding and operational support.

Xirrus Rolls Out Free Wi-Fi Software
Westlake Village-based Xirrus said today that it has launched a new set of free, Wi-Fi tools for Windows Vista. The venture-backed developer of Wi-Fi access points, said that the software will allow Windows Vista users to monitor laptop wireless settings, search for local Wi-Fi networks, along with other wireless network tools. Xirrus is a developer of a Wi-Fi array, which combines multiple access points into a single device. The firm is backed by August capital and U.S. Venture Partners.

Day Software Inks OEM Deal With Oracle
Newport Beach-based Day Software said today that it has inked an OEM agreement with Oracle, where Oracle will include its software for integration between Oracle WebCenter and third party content repositories. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Day develops software using the JCR/JSR 170 standard, used to connect enterprise software. THQ Loses CFO
Agoura Hills-based THQ said Monday afternoon that Edward Zinser, the firm's CFO, has resigned. According to THQ, the resignation was a result of a mutual agreement by Zinser and the company; no further details for the resignation were given, except that THQ said that the resignation was in no way related to the financial condition, results of operations, or future prospects of THQ. Autobytel Revamps Used Auto Program
Irvine-based Autobytel, a provider of online services for linking automobile dealers with leads, said this morning that it has launched a new used vehicle program for dealers. The firm said that it has re-vamped its used auto program through its recently launched MyRide.com web site, including adding pay-for-performance pricing, which only charges automotive dealers for quality phone leads. Userplane Links Into Network, Cable TV Providers
Santa Monica-based Userplane, a provider of social networking and related software, said this morning that it has signed a number of deals with network and cable television media partners. Userplane, which is a subsidiary of AOL, said that Channel 4 (UK), The CW, FUEL TV, and IFC are all using the firm's community applications on their online sites. CallWave Adds Virtual Fax Service
Santa Barbara-based CallWave said this morning that it has made a new, virtual Fax service available to its users. The new service, Callwave Virtual Fax, provides the ability for business users to both send and receive faxes from their computer.
