Big Stage Unveils at CES
Los Angeles-based Big Stage unveiled today at CES, as part of the Intel keynote by Paul Otellini. Big Stage showed its technology, which allows users to create life-like, 3D avatars of themselves into movies, TV shows, video games, and music videos and other video content, as part of a demonstration of technology powered by Intel processors. Memeo Raises $8.1M Series B Funding
Aliso Viejo-based Memeo, a company which develops a backup and recovery software for photos, music, and other digital files, said Monday that it has raised $8.1M in a Series B round of funding. Funding came from the Foundry Group, which led the round, along with G-51 Capital. Memeo said it is profitable, and will use the capital to boost its market position, expand its team, build distribution channels, and for product development. Nirvanix Signs Axentra
San Diego-based online storage provider Nirvanix said today at CES that it has partnered with Axentra, a provider of software for storing photos, video, and music. Axentra and Nivranix said that it would add support for the Nirvanix online storage service as part of the firm's HipServ application, as part of a release of the LaCie Ethernet Disk mini - Home Edition personal media server. DevZuz Acquired By Exist Global
Marina Del Rey-based DevZuz, a venture-backed provider of open source development tools, has been acquired by Exist Global, a software engineering services firm based in the Phillipines. Exist Global did not disclose financial terms of the acquisition. DevZuz has received at least $9.25M in venture capital investments from Mission Ventures and Redpoint Ventures, and is headed by former Gluecode founder Winston Damarillo. CelLynx Gets $2M, In Reverse Merger
Irvine-based CelLynx, a developer of cell phone signal amplifiers, said Friday that it has signed agreements to raised $2M in equity financing from undisclosed, accredited investors. Names of those investors were not disclosed. The firm said the funding came in a deal to be acquired by Norpac Technologies, which the firm's shareholders and management will assume control of. CallWave, JAJAH Link Systems
Santa Barbara-based CallWave said today that it has entered into a partnership with JAJAH, the Mountain View-based voice-over-IP service which allows users to make free phone calls over the Internet. CallWave said that the two companies will jointly develop and market Internet telephony applications and services. Networks In Motion Shows WiMax Device
Aliso Viejo-based Networks In Motion, which develops wireless navigation and location-based services technology, said today that it is showing a new WiMax connected navigation system at CES. BridgeCo Launches New Audio Silicon
Los Angeles-based BridgeCo, a provider of home audio networking chips, said at CES today that the firm has rolled out its third generation silicon and software. BridgeCo said its JukeBlox Networked Audio technology allows manufacturers to connect audio systems to home networks. Evolution Robotics Rolls Out Navigation System
Pasadena-based Evolution Robotics, the Idealab-backed company which develops robotics technology, said today that it has rolled out a navigation system for robots. Evolution Robotics said that its NorthStar 2.0 system has been adopted by WowWee Group in its new Rovio telepresence robot, which is debuting at CES this week. D-Link Ties Into BitTorrent
Fountain Valley-based networking hardware provide D-Link has joined a technology licensing and certification program from Peer-to-Peer content delivery firm BitTorrent, BitTorrent said Monday. BitTorrent said that it has certified D-Link router and network attached storage devices with its software, and that its software development kit has been embedded on a D-Link product, the DNS-323. DivX Inks Content, Hardware Deals
San Diego-based DivX, a provider of video encoding and decoding technology, said Monday that it has inked a series of deals with a number of content providers.
