National Lampoon Acquires CollegeHangover.com
Los Angeles-based National Lampoon said Wednesday that it has acquired web site CollegeHangover.com. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. CollegeHangover.com is an online, user-generated video and photo site featuring photos of drunk college students and similar content.

Zogenix Gains $18M In New Funding
San Diego-based Zogenix, a firm developing specialty pharmaceuticals for the neurology and pain market, said Wednesday that it has raised $18M in a private placement of preferred stock. The round came from Abingworth Management Ltd., and also included prior investors Clarus Ventures, Domain Associates, and Scale Venture Partners. Break.com Hits Verizon V CAST
Los Angeles-based Break.com said Tuesday that the firm's online video entertainment content is now available on Verizon's V CAST video service. Break.com said that the Break.com videos will be available as part of the V CAST basic video service. Break.com operates an online entertainment web site focused on men; the firm's site includes original video, user-generated content, games, and other content. HostedSupport Targets eBay Sellers
Los Angeles-based HostedSupport.com, a provider of customer support software, said today that it has released a new version of the firm's ezSupport for eBay product. The hosted, software-as-a-service provides customer support for eBay sellers. HostedSupport also offers customer support management software for web-based businesses. Pasadena-based Evolution Robotics Retail, the retail arm of Idealab's robotics technology firm, said today that it has released a new version of the firm's LaneHawk Visual Scanner product. The firm said that the product, which is used for checking the bottom of grocery shopping carts, is now available for Windows Server 2003 Server. The software was previously available on Linux. Gemstar-TV Guide, Sony In Licensing Agreement
Pasadena-based Gemstar-TV Guide said today that it has signed a multi-year agreement with Sony on its on-screen TV programming guides. Gemstar did not disclose terms of the deal, but said that Sony USA has signed a multi-year agreement covering use of Gemstar's TV Guide On Screen interactive program guide on Sony's television products. Gemstar TV Guide holds a number of patents covering on screen programming guides, and provides access to those patents through its TV Guide On Screen products.

Nexsan Takes On Xserve Market
Thousand Oaks-based Nexsan, a provider of SATA disk storage systems, said today that the firm has rolled out a new storage solution specifically for the Apple Xserve and Mac Pro market. Nexsan said that its SATABeast Xi product provides high density, energy efficient storage for the Mac market. The new product provides up to 42TB of storage in a 4U rackmount footprint, and includes technology for idling disks which are not in use. Local.com Links Into Yelp
Irvine-based Local.com, a provider of a local search engine, said today that it has entered into a relationship with Yelp, a provider of local reviews, to include Yelp's reviews and ratings. Financial terms of the deal, and details on the relationship, were not disclosed. Local.com said that the new content began appearing in December on its search results. Local.com provides a search site for local businesses and information.
