Row44 Powers Southwest Airlines Internet Access
Southwest Airlines said Wednesday that it will test satellite-delivered broadband Internet access on its plane, in a deal which taps Westlake Village-based Row 44 for the technology. Southwest said it will provide Wi-Fi broadband Internet access on multiple aircraft, starting with four aircraft sometime this summer. Superscape To Be Acquired By Glu Mobile
San Clemente, California-based Superscape Group plc, a developer and publisher of mobile games, is being acquired by Glu Mobile, a mobile games developer, Glu said Wednesday. Glu Mobile said it is offering 10 pence in cash for Superscape, worth approximately $36M in stock for Superscape. The offer makes the deal worth approximately $25M, taking into account $11M in cash that Superscape has on its balance sheet. Transpera, Break.com Team On Mobile Video
Santa Monica-based Transpera said Wednesday that it has partnered with Los Angeles-based online entertainment site Break.com. According to Transpera, Break.com will use its platform to provide mobile versions of its online videos. Financial terms of the win with Break.com were not disclosed. The deal also includes use of Transpera's advertising platform. Transpera is venture backed by Intel Capital, IDG Ventures, and First Round Capital.

PathConnect Names President, CEO
Los Angeles-based PathConnect, a developer of online social networking web sites, said today that it has appointed Chris Wong as the firm's President and CEO. PathConnect is the firm behind SkiSpace, the online ski social networking web site run by Bode Miller. Wong joins the firm from Oracle, where he was Senior Vice President of Applications, and was EVP and Chief Product Officer of Agile Software. Fonality Gets Major Win At Dell
Los Angeles-based Voice-over-IP software firm Fonality said today that the firm's products have been selected by Dell Computer. According to Fonality, Dell has selected the firm as a go-to-market partner to offer VoIP phone systems to its small and mid-sized customers. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, Fonality develops voice-over-IP PBX software, based on the open source Trixbox PBX software, which it sells and markets to small and medium businesses. Internet Brands Buys Three Web Sites
Los Angeles-based Internet Brands announced this morning that it has acquired three web sites, HuntingNet.com, OffShoreOnly.com, and Horsetopia.com. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. HuntingNet.com is an online community focused on hunting; OffShoreOnly.com is focused on performance boating; and Horsetopia.com is focused on the buying and selling of horses. Green Hills Adds Secure Routing Software
Santa Barbara-based Green Hills Software said today that it has added new advanced layer 3 IPv4 and IPv6 routing software to its lineup of products for its operating systems.
