Ex-Broadcom VP Settles With SEC
The Securities and Exchange Commission reported Tuesday afternoon that the former vice president of human resources at Broadcom Corporation, Nancy M. Tullos, has agreed to pay more than $1.3M plus a civil penalty of $100,000 for her involvement in the stock options backdating at Broadcom. According to the SEC, the payment will be offset by the value of her exerciseable stock options that Broadcom cancelled. Demand Media Buys Pluck
Demand Media, the online media firm headed by former MySpace chairman Richard Rosenblatt, said today that it has acquired Pluck, a provider of social media software for publishing firms. Austin, Texas-based Pluck's software is used by Reuters, Hearst, Gannett/USA TODAY and other publishers to find and feature blog posts. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. Pluck was founded in 2003. Demand Media has raised over $350 million in venture funding for its social media efforts.

LiveVideo Acquires Revver
West Hollywood-based LiveVideo.com, the online video site run by former Intermix CEO Brad Greenspan, said today that it has acquired user generated video sharing site Revver. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. According to Livevideo.com, which is a subsidiary of LiveUniverse, Brad Greenspan will oversee strategy and expansion initiatives for both LiveVideo.com and Revver.com. Spot Runner Acquires Weblistic
Los Angeles-based Spot Runner said Tuesday that it has acquired Weblistic, a provider of online marketing solutions for local businesses. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Iomega Ups REV Capacity To 120GB
San Diego-based data storage firm Iomega said Tuesday that the firm has upped the capacity of the firm's REV removable hard drives to 120GB. The firm said that the new drives are expected to be available in April. Iomega's REV removable drives previously supported up to 70GB of data storage on a single cartridge. iRise Adds $20M For Simulation Software
El Segundo-based software firm iRise said this morning that it has raised an additional $20M in an investment round for the firm's visualization software. TherOx Gets $30M For Heart Attack Treatment
Irvine-based TherOx, a developer of medical devices for treating heart attacks, said today that it has closed on $30M in venture funding. The funding round was led by DAG Ventures, and also included Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, New Science Ventures, Integral Capital Partners, Aperture Venture Partners and Cross Creek Capital. TherOx is developing a device focused on Myocardial Salvage Intervention, a treatment performed on Acute Myocardial Infarction patients.

Break Buys Wall Street Fighter
Los Angeles-based men's entertainment site Break Media said today that it has acquired Wall Street Fighter, an online business news and humor website. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. According to Break, Wall Street Fighter has more than 500,000 unique monthly visitors. The site joins four other sites -- Break.com, Chickipedia, Cage Potato, and Holy Taco -- operated by the firm. Break's web sites target the 18-34 year old male market.

AECOM Completes Tecsult Buy
Los Angeles-based AECOM Technology Corporation said this morning that it has completed its acquisition of Tecsult, a Montreal, Canada-based engineering firm. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. AECOM said that Tecsult will join its energy practice. AECOM provides technical and management consulting to transportation, energy, environmental, facilities, and other companies. Tecsult provides engineering services for the energy market, and specifically in the area of hydropower.

Fonality Revs PBX Software

BidShift Names VP
San Diego-based BidShift, which develops software-as-a-service for managing healthcare staffing, said Monday that it has appointed Michael Saddik as Executive Vice President. Saddik joins BidShift from Covad Communications, where he was Vice President of Sales. Saddik has also previously served at NextWeb. BidShift's online systems allow healthcare workers to bid for schedules, and help hospitals and other healthcare organizations to better manage their staffing.

Gorilla Nation Hires Technology VP
Los Angeles-based Gorilla Nation said Monday that it has appointed Alex Godelman as VP Technology. Godelman joins the firm from Shopzilla, where he was a member of the company's senior management team. Godelman has also served at Diskeeper, B3/Time Warner, and Maxis/Electronic Arts, among other companies.
