CalAmp Settles Patent Suit With PROCON
Oxnard-based CalAmp said Wednesday that it has settled patent litigation between the firm and PROCON, a provider of location based tracking systems. According to the firms, PROCON and CalAmp have granted licenses relating to systems that apply Global Positioning Satellite (GPS) technology to track and report the location of vehicles. Interneer Adds $1.2M
Los Angeles-based Interneer, a company which develops software for developing enterprise applications, said Wednesday that it has raised $1.2M in a funding round from both new and exiting investors. Names of the new investors were not disclosed. According to Interneer, the funding round will be used to expand operations at the firm. Websense Rolls Out New Email Security Product
San Diego-based Websense said Wednesday that it has rolled out a new email messaging security product which it calls Websense Hybrid Email Security. The new product combines both hosted email security alongside an on-site, message security software. According to Websense, the new email security product combines software for outbound email inspection, with a hosted inbound virus and spam filtering service. Taltopia Gets $800K In Funding
Los Angeles-based Taltopia.com, which says it has created an free, online platform for connecting aspiring actors, musicians, models, comedians, and other talent with fans and industry professionals, said this morning that it has raised $800,000 in a Series A round of funding. The round came from an unnamed angel investor. According to the firm, the funding will go to broaden the site's reach and further develop features on the site. Generate Rounds Up $6M for Entertainment Studio
Los Angeles-based Generate said late Tuesday evening that it has raised $6M in a Series A venture funding round. The firm, which bills itself as a "next-generation" production and management studio for professional entertainment, said the funding came from Velocity Interactive Group and MK Capital. Generate said it will generate professional, quality content for broadband, television, film, publishing and other media. DivX Extends Philips Deal
San Diego-based DivX said Tuesday that the firm has entered into a new, two-year license agreement with consumer electronics firm Philips Electronics. According to DivX, the agreement calls for Philips to continue to include DivX video functionality in its DVD players, portable devices, digital televisions, and other products. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed. DivX is a developer of video codec technology used to compress and decompress video content.
