LifeMasters Raises $15M More
Irvine-based LifeMasters Supported SelfCare said Tuesday that it has raised $15M in funding from some of its existing investors. Investors in the new round included VantagePoint Venture Partners, Saints Capital, and Opus Capital. LifeMasters develops health improvement programs and services. LifeMasters said the funding would be used to execute on its strategic growth initiatives and expand its programs. Gumiyo Links With Target Media
Woodland Hills-based Gumiyo has inked a partnership with Target Media Partners, a publisher of local classified advertising publications for the auto and other markets, the firms are set to announce tomorrow. Gumiyo will provide its private label platform to Target Media Partners for its publications, which include the Recycler Classifieds, AutoBuys, Jobs Magazines, and others. Specific Media Trumpets Growth
Irvine-based Specific Media, a major online advertising network, reported yesterday that it saw a 300 percent increase in its revenues in 2007, compared with 2006. The privately held, venture backed firm did not report its actual financials. Language Weaver In Strategic Partnership With French Firm
Los Angeles-based Language Weaver is reporting that the firm has inked a strategic partnership with a European translation firm, Reverso. Language Weaver, which develops language translation software, said that Reverso will include its technologies in its business-to-business translations software. Los Angeles Makes List of Fastest Growing Regions For Venture Capital
Los Angeles has made a list of the fastest growing regions for venture capital, released today by the National Venture Capital Association. According to the NVCA and PricewaterhouseCoopers, Los Angeles was among the top five regions of the nation in terms of venture capital growth between 1997 and 2007, with a 155% increase in ten year investments in the area. MRV Names New CFO
Chatsworth-based MRV Communications said Tuesday that it has named Guy Avidan as CFO of the firm. Avidan was serving as the firm's acting CFO. The firm also said it has added Chris D. King as the firm's VP Finance and Chief Compliance Officer, as of January. Avidan has been MRV's acting CFO since July of last year, and has been at the company since 1995. Transpera Signs Revision3
Santa Monica-based Transpera, a provider of mobile video services, has signed on Revision3 as a customer, the firm said today. According to Transpera, Revision3, which provides video content for the web, has launched a new mobile Web service based on the firm's technology. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Revision3 publishes such shows as The Digg Reel, The GigaOm Show, and XLR8R. Transpera is venture backed by First Round Capital, IDG Ventures, and Intel Capital.

Xirrus Gets $26M
Westlake Village-based Xirrus said Tuesday that it has closed on a Series C funding round worth $26M. The funding was led by Canaan Partners, and included prior investors U.S. Venture Partners, August Capital, QuestMark Partners, and founder Dirk Gates. According to Xirrus, the investment will be used for customer acquisition and international expansion. Qualcomm Acquires Xiam Technologies Limited
San Diego-based Qualcomm said today that it has acquired Xiam Technologies Limited, a provider of wireless content discovery and recommendation technology. Qualcomm said it would pay approximately $32 million for Xiam, which is based in Ireland. Xiam's technology is used to provide relevant content and advertisements to consumers over wireless networks and the Web. Qualcomm said Xiam will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of the firm.
