GeoMicro Gets Investment From AccuWeather
Irvine-based GeoMicro, a developer of mapping technology, has received an investment from AccuWeather, a provider of weather information. Financial terms of the investment were not disclosed. According to AccuWeather, the firm will also be incorporating GeoMicro's AltaMap platform as part of an effort to include dynamically generated satellite and radar images. NextWave Wireless Launches Multimedia Platform, Signs Partners
San Diego-based NextWave Wireless has launched a new multimedia broadcasting technology for WiMax operators, and signed up a number of partners behind the solution. NextWave launched its MXtv technology Monday, saying that its new technology allows the broadcast of mobile TV, interactive media services, and digital audio through WiMax 802.16e equipment. Greenlight Wireless Inks PPC Deal With MIVA
Irvine-based Greenlight Wireless, a provider of mobile advertising and mobile services, announced today that it has signed an agreement with MIVA Media, the digital advertising network of MIVA, Inc. According to Greenlight Wireless, consumers accessing mobile sites using its services will see MIVA's Pay-Per-Click ads. Financial details of the deal were not disclosed. Triton Pacific Buys Majority Interest In AssetPoint
Los Angeles-based private equity firm Triton Pacific Capital Partners said Wednesday that it has acquired AssetPoint, a provider of software for enterprise asset management and equipment maintenance. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. AssetPoint is based in Greenville, SC, and is a spinoff of Flour Corporation.

Language Weaver Names Tapling CEO
Los Angeles-based Language Weaver said today that it has named Mark Tapling as CEO of the firm. Tapling joins the firm from InfoGenesis, where he was President and CEO. Tapling has also served at Everypath, and ServiceWare, where he led that firm's IPO. Tapling replaces founder, CTO, and interim chairman Daniel Marcu, who was interim CEO for the firm. Hulu.com Goes Live
Los Angeles-based online video service Hulu.com, which is a joint venture of NBC Universal and News Corp, said today that it has publicly launched the firm's service for streaming TV shows, movies, and other video content. The service--which is backed by $100M in private equity from Providence Equity Partners--includes content from Fox, NBC Universal, MGM, Sony, Warner Bros., Lionsgate, the NBA and NHL, and many others. Specific Media Buys European Ad Network
Irvine-based Specific Media, which operates an online advertising network, said today that it is in a definitive agreement to acquire the assets of Adviva, a display advertising network based in the United Kingdom.
