EDSA Micro Corp Acquired By Private Equity Firm
San Diego-based EDSA Micro Corp., which develops software for designing, testing, and diagnosing electrical power systems, announced Wednesday afternoon that majority ownership of the firm has been acquired by Digital Power Capital, an affiliate of private equity firm Wexford Capital LLC. CardioNet Prices IPO
San Diego-based CardioNet said Wednesday afternoon that it has priced the firm's initial public offering. The company said it will offer 4.5 million shares of its common stock at $18.00 per share. 1.5 million shares of the offering will come from Guidant Investment Corporation. Retention Education Pulls In Series B
Aliso Viejo-based Retention Education, a provider of language instruction materials for teaching English and Spanish, has closed a Series B round of funding, the firm said Wednesday. Amount of the funding was not disclosed. The funding came from MK Capital, Ascend Venture Group, Ironwood Equity Fund, and OCA Ventures. Retention Education markets its products under the name "Sed de Saber," and was founded in 2003.

NetSeer Hires Yahoo VP, Discloses Funding
Los Angeles-based NetSeer, a venture backed startup focused on the search and ad targeting market, has snagged Yahoo's Executive VP of Global Sales as its new President and CEO. NetSeer also revealed that it has received venture backing from ONSET Ventures and Mission Ventures. Details of the funding were not disclosed. Phoenix Motorcars Gets Investment
Ontario, California-based Phoenix MC, Inc. which is designing electric vehicles, said this morning that the firm has secured additional financing from two new investors. Phoenix Motorcars said that it received an undisclosed amount of funding from Dubai-based Al Yousuf LLC, and Arlington, Virgina-based AES Corporation. Xencor Names Chairman
Monrovia, California-based Xencor, which develops protein and antibody therapeutics, said Wednesday that it has appointed David R. King as the Chairman of its board of directors. Xencor develops biotherapeutics are used to improve antibody effectiveness for treating cancer, inflammation, and autoimmune diseases. KidZui Launches Web Browser For Children
San Diego-based KidZui has launched a new browser and online service aimed at kids today, taking aim at children 3 to 12 years old. The firm, which is venture backed by Maveron, Emergence Capital Partners and First Round Capital, said today that the firm's browser is now available for download on the firm's web site. Conexant Names Legal Officer
Newport Beach-based Conexant Systems has added Mark D. Peterson as the firm's Senior Vice President, Chief Legal Officer, and Secretary. The firm said today that Peterson joins the firm from Targus Group International, and has also served at Meade Instruments and O'Melveny & Myers LLP.
