Trius Therapeutics Raises $30M
San Diego-based Trius Therapeutics said today that it has raised $30M in a Series B funding round. The funding was led by Kleiner, Perkins, Caulfied and Byers. FinTech Global Capital, a new investor in the firm, also participated, along with existing backers Sofinnova Ventures, Versant Ventures, Interwest Partners and Prism VentureWorks. Trius Therapeutics is developing antibacterial drugs.

Zogenix Files For IPO
San Diego-based Zogenix said late last Thursday in a filing with the SEC that it is looking to raise up to $86.25M in an IPO on the Nasdaq Global Market. The firm said it has applied to list as "ZGNX." The IPO is being underwritten by Banc of America Securities, Leerink Swann, Thomas Weisel Partners, and Susquehanna Financial Group. Wyle Sells Test Operations
El Segundo-based Wyle said Friday that it has sold its Santa Clara test operations to Silicon Turnkey Solutions, a Milpitas-based provider of test and qualifications services. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Wyle is a provider of aerospace engineering and IT services to the federal government. The firm's Santa Clara test operations served the aerospace, military, and commercial electronics industry.

Zoovy Links With Shipwire
San Diego-based Zoovy, a provider of web store software, said last week that it has integrated its products with Shipwire, a provider of Internet-based warehouse storage and fulfillment. According to Zoovy, the integration of Zoovy's products with Shipwire allows merchants to store merchandise and fulfill orders from Shipwire's warehouses directly. Mavent Hires VP
Irvine-based Mavent, which develops software for regulatory compliance, said last week that it has added Lauren Ingersoll as Senior Vice President and Client Development Counsel. Ingersoll has previously served at the Phunpei Supreme Court, Birnberg & Associates, and the San Francisco Redevelopment Agency. Mavent develops software used for automating compliance in the mortgage industry. Mavent has previously received funding from FTVentures.

Western Digital Makes Cuts In Asia
Lake Forest-based disk drive maker Western Digital said last week that it will be laying off approximately 800 employees -- the majority in Malaysia -- as part of an effort to streamline its operations. WD said that it will eliminate 770 positions in Malaysia, and approximately 30 in San Jose, as part of a move to only supply media and substrate to its own hard drive business.
