EdenIQ Raises Venture Round
Encino-based EdenIQ, which is developing cellulosic ethanol technology for the clean energy sector, has quietly raised a round of venture capital as part of the firm's spinoff from Altra Biofuels. According to EdenIQ's web site, current investors in the firm include Draper Fisher Jurvetson, DFJ Element, Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Angelno Group, Omninet, The Westly Group, Duff Ackerman & Goodrich, and Northgate Capital. Kintera Acquired By Blackbaud
San Diego-based Kintera, the provider of online software for managing nonprofit operations, said Thursday afternoon that the firm has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by Blackbaud, Inc. The deal is worth approximately $46.0 million. According to Kintera, it will continue its operations in San Diego and its other locations. Newegg Expands Beyond Electronics, Computers
City of Industry-based Newegg, the online retailer of consumer electronics and computer products, said this week that the firm has expanded into general merchandise with a new site, NeweggMall.com. The retailer said it would offer everything from auto parts and hardware to jewelry, apparel, and home and garden products. Vuguru Launches Robin Cook Prequel, Foreign Body
Beverly Hills-based new media studio Vuguru said Wednesday that it has launched its web series, Robin Cook's Foreign Body The Prequel, a prequel to Robin Cook's upcoming novel, Foreign Body. The studio, which is headed by Michael Eisner, said that the series will air everyday, five days a week, for 10 weeks on YouTube, Veoh, Hulu, blip.tv, Dailymotion, and on its own web site. RiffWare Deploys On Verizon
Pasadena-based RiffWare, which develops an application for managing automotive maintenance information on cell phones, said today that it has released an application on Verizon Wireless. According to the firm, its Miles to Go application allows users to track mileage, schedule oil changes and maintenance, and provide recall and alerts to car owners. Irving is co-chairman and Senior Corporate Partner at legal firm Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP.
