NeuroVigil Lands $250K From DFJ
La Jolla-based NeuroVigil, a spinout of the Salk Institute, has scored a seed funding round of $250,000 from Draper Fisher Jurvetson, DFJ Frontier, and Zone Ventures. Draper Fisher Jurvetson announced the investment Friday, saying that the startup gained the funding after winning its annual business plan competition, the DFJ Venture Challenge. AeroVironment Gets UAV Win In The Netherlands
Monrovia, California-based AeroVironment said Friday that the firm has been awarded a contract for its Raven unmanned aircraft systems by The Netherlands Ministry of Defence. According to AeroVironment, the contract is worth $7.7M. AeroVironment's Raven RQ-11B is an unmanned aircraft used by the defense and military; the UAV is currently used by the U.S. armed forces and others for reconnaissance, surveillance, and target acquisition. Peerless Systems Aborts Prism Software Buy
El Segundo-based Peerless Systems Corporation said Friday that it has terminated its asset purchase agreement with Prism Software Corporation. According to Peerless, it said that some of the conditions to close the transaction with Prism were not satisfied, and it determined it was in the company's best interest to pursue other opportunities. IN-FUSIO Grabs "Get Smart" Rights
Los Angeles-based IN-FUSIO, a developer of mobile games and content, said Thursday that it has licensed the mobile gaming rights to Warner Bros.' upcoming motion picture, Get Smart. Skweezer Targets Google AdSense With Upgrade
Irvine-based Skweezer, a provider of a mobile advertising network and service for converting web sites to mobile format, said Thursday that it has upgraded its online advertising system, with an eye on Google's dominant AdSense advertising program.
