FunnyorDie Gets Investment From HBO
Entertainment industry publication Variety reported late Tuesday evening that Will Ferrell's FunnyorDie.com Internet web start has sold a small stake in the firm to HBO. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. According to Variety, the deal includes the two sites partnering on future products, including possibly comedy tours or Funny or Die programming on HBO's channels. Zag Inks Auto Buying Deal With Parenting.com
Santa Monica-based Zag, a provider of software and technology for auto buying programs, said today that it has signed on Bonnier Corp.'s Parenting Group, the owner of Parenting.com and the Parenting and Babytalk magazines. According to ZAG, Parenting.com has launched a new auto buying program powered by Zag, which will be used to connect parents with automotive dealers on the web site. CalAmp Swizzles Management Team
Oxnard-based CalAmp, a provider of hardware for the wireless communications market, said today that it has consolidated two of its divisions and made a number of executive changes. The firm said it is consolidating its Wireless DataCom Division and Satellite Division into one operating unit, saying that the move would streamline its operating structure, and result in improved efficiencies. Userplane Expands Plug-in Support
Santa Monica-based Userplane, which provides widgets and other software for online websites, said Tuesday that it has expanded support for a number of third party blogging and other content management software platforms. Ticketmaster Appoints Expedia's Regan As CFO
West Hollywood-based Ticketmaster announced Tuesday that it has appointed a new CFO, snagging Brian Regan as its Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer from Expedia. Ticketmaster said that Regan was most recently Senior Vice President of Finance for Expedia's North American business, including Exepdia.com, Hotels.com, and Hotwire.com.
