M2 Technology Partners Gets Investment From Accel-KKR, Targets Software Firms
Laguna Hills-based M2 Technology Partners, LLC, a new investment firm focused on the software and services business, said Tuesday that it has launched with sponsorship from technology focused private equity firm Accel-KKR. The new firm is headed by Mark Duffell and Michael Piraino, both formerly of Epicor Software. Revver In Distribution Deal With Revision3
Los Angeles-based video sharing web site Revver said Tuesday that it has inked a deal with technology video content provider Revision3 to publish shows on Revver's web site. According to the two, they are in an agreement to bring Revision3's shows to Revver's network, starting with "Scam School" and eventually including content from Diggnation, iFanboy, Tekzilla, and popSiren. Researchers Use Cell Phones, Facebook For Green Measurement
University of California Los Angeles researchers said this week that they have created a project which allows users to connect their cell phones and an application, as well as the Facebook social networking web site, to measure their personal impact on the environment. CEIVA Logic Sues Digital Photo Frame Makers
Burbank-based CEIVA Logic, a manufacturer of photo frames and online photo services, said Tuesday that it has filed a patent infringement lawsuit against two companies, Frame Media, Inc. and Digital Spectrum Solutions, Inc. According to the firm, CEIVA asserts that Frame Media's FrameChannel photo sharing service, and Digital Spectrum's web enabled pictures frames infringe on a patent granted to the firm. MMFX Technologies Raises $55M In Debt
Irvine-based MMFX Technologies Corporation said Tuesday that the firm has received a $55M secured debt financing commitment for the firm's material science technology. According to MMFX, the firm uses nanotechnology to manufacture high-strength, corrosion-resistant steel. Dispensing Solutions Spins Out New Company
Santa Ana-based Dispensing Solutions, a provider of services to the pharmaceutical supply chain, announced today that it has carved out technology from the firm to form a new company, POC Network Technologies Inc. Solarflare Raises $26M
Irvine-based Solarflare Communications said today that it has raised an additional $26M in venture funding. The new round was led by Oak Investment Partners, and also included Foundation Capital, Accel Partners, and Amadeus Capital Partners. Solarflare is developing 10 Gigabit Ethernet semiconductors, including PHY and MAC chips. Los Angeles-based security software firm CyberDefender announced today that it has added Sean Whiteley, co-founder and former CEO of RealtyTracker, as a special advisor to its board of directors.
