Zogenix Gets $18M In Debt
San Diego-based Zogenix, a developer of specialty pharmaceuticals, said Monday that it has raised $18M in a secured loan facility. The loan came from Oxford Finance Corporation and CIT Healthcare LLC. Zogenix said the funding will go towards preparing for the laun chof its first product, which is targeted at treatment of acute migraine. AECOM Completes Earth Tech Acquisition
Los Angeles-based AECOM Technology Corporation, a provider of professional IT services for the government and commercial clients, said Monday morning that it has completed its acquisition of Earth Tech, Inc. Earth Tech was a unit of Tyco International, and provided consulting and engineering services in the wastewater, environmental, transportation, and facilities industry. SimpleTech Ships Bamboo Hard Drive
Santa Ana- and San Mateo-based Fabrik, a developer of storage devices and services, said Monday that the firm has shipped a hard disk drive--made out of bamboo and aluminum. The company claims the drive is an energy-efficient, "resource-conscious" and sustainable product. The SimpleTech [re]drive is an external hard drive uses bamboo as part of its external case; the firm said the bamboo is grown locally to its manufacturing facility.

ZyXEL Targets SMB Threat Management
Anaheim-based ZyXEL Communications, a manufacturer of broadband networking and other related products, said Monday that it has rolled out an expanded line of threat management products targeted at small and medium sized businesses. According to the firm, its new ZyWALL USG series of products provide IPSec/SSL VPN, firewall, content filtering, and other security functionality. Firms Partner On Screenwriting Software
Los Angeles-based Scripped and Glendale-based Write Brothers said today that it has inked a technology and marketing partnership for the firm's new, Web-based screenwriting software. According to the firms, Scripped.com and Write Brothers are partnering to provide aspiring writers a product for helping writers write and submit Hollywood screenplays. Nexsan In Marketing Agreement With Healthcare Firm
Thousand Oaks-based Nexsan, a developer of data storage products, said Monday that the firm has inked a marketing agreement with Agfa HealthCare, a provider of clinical workflow and diagnostic imaging products. According to the firm, the two will work together providing systems for capturing, processing, storing and archiving images in hospitals and other healthcare facilities. 5Square Systems Acquired
Westlake Village-based 5Square Systems was acquired earlier this month by iMagicLab, a Maryland-based firm which develops software for the automotive market. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. 5Square, which develops customer relationship management (CRM) tools, was venture backed by Norwest Venture Partners, Storm Ventures, KTB Ventures, Western Technology Investment, and Comerica Bank. 5Square's software was used for managing automotive dealership sales and the sales process. Gumiyo Names President
Woodland Hills-based Gumiyo announced today that it has appointed Eric Larson as President of the company. Larson joins the firm from 5square Systems, where he also had served as President. Larson has also served as Senior Vice President and CFO of Nomadix, as well as Arthur Andersen L.L.P. Gumiyo is a provider of mobile marketing and classified services, which helps auto dealers, real estate agents, and others post mobile classifieds and to market their services.
