Xoova Goes Under
Santa Monica-based Xoova, an online health related web site focused on connecting physicians and patients, has shut its doors. The site, which was funded by Spark Capital, started as DoctorsDirect.com and renamed itself Xoova in February of last year. The firm had received $2.5M in funding from Spark Capital. Former CEO Tommy McGloin confirmed on a call today with socalTECH that the firm has been dissolved; McGloin is now at Google in Santa Monica. NetworkD Acquired By Sparxent
Newport Beach-based NetworkD, a value added reseller of IT solutions, has been acquired by a new startup, Sparxent. Sparxent, which is based in Salt Lake City, Utah, did not disclose financial terms of the acquisition, but said that it acquired NetworkD as part of the firm's funding and launch. Sparxent is venture backed by vSpring Capital. NetworkD was a reseller of systems management and service desk software, and was founded in 1996.

Broadcom Buys AMD's Digital TV Business
Irvine-based Broadcom announced this morning that the firm has acquired AMD's digital TV business. According to the companies, Broadcom will pay approximately $192.8M in cash in exchange for AMD's digital TV assets. Approximately 530 employees at AMD's digital TV team will join Broadcom as part of the acquisition. SocialVibe Partners With Interpublic
Los Angeles-based SocialVibe, a Redpoint-funded social media site focused on brand promotion, said this morning that it has inked a strategic partnership with Interpublic's Emerging Media Lab. According to SocialVibe, Interpublic's lab will introduce SocialVibe to IPG's media services and advertising agencies. Interpublic is a major owner of online advertising agencies and related firms. Zag Names New President, COO
Santa Monica-based Zag, which develops software used for online product configuration of automobiles, announced this morning that it has added Chris Porch as the firm's President and Chief Operating Officer. Porch was a founder of Trilogy Software, and was most recently at Between Markets, where he served as CEO. Tsavo Hires AOL's Macadaan
Santa Monica-based Tsavo Media, a new startup headed up by Userplane founder Mike Jones, said today that the firm has hired Mike Macadaan as VP of Product and Design. Tsavo--which is currently in stealth mode, but describes itself as delivering "highly relevant experiences to today's digital consumers," said that Macadaan joins the firm from AOL, where he was VP of Design.
