United Online Completes FTD Buy
Woodland Hills-based United Online said Tuesday that the firm has completed its acquisition of FTD Group, Inc. The deal was worth approximately $441M, in a mix of cash and stock. United Online originally announced the acquisition of FTD in April. United Online said that it expects the deal to help it increase in scale, diversify its revenue streams, and expand its marketing opportunities. EdgeCast Signs Mashable
Los Angeles-based content delivery network firm EdgeCast Networks has signed on social media news site Mashable as a customer, the firm said Tuesday afternoon. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed, however EdgCast said that Mashable will use its CDN services for distributing its blog posts. EdgeCast provides digital media content delivery services; Mashable operates an online blog focused on Web 2.0 and social networking news.

Xirrus Gets Win At Packing Firm
Thousand Oaks-based Xirrus, which manufactures wireless switches, said Tuesday that the firm's products have been selected by Bonipak, a produce packing company based in Central California. Impact of the customer win was not disclosed. Xirrus said that Bonipak will use the firm's products for providing 802.11 voice, video, and data to the firm's facilities.

IOGEAR Rolls HD Video Streaming Product
Irvine-based IOGEAR, a developer of consumer electronics and other hardware, announced a new product for streaming HD video between a PC and television. According to IOGEAR, the firm's new wireless USB to VGA kit enabled HD video streaming between a PC and TV or projector. The new device uses wireless USB to connect to a laptop or desktop, and supports up to 720p video. IOGEAR said its new Wireless USB to VGA kit supports Windows XP or Vista, and will ship in October.

Sometrics Expands Business Development Team
Los Angeles-based Sometrics, which develops analytics tools for social networking applications, announced today that the firm has hired on two new business development managers for the firm. According to Sometrics, it has added Jennifer Bartlett and Michael (Mickey) Maher to the firm. Bartlett joins from On eEighteen Advertising; Maher was most recently at eMedical Lending. Sometrics is venture backed by the Mail Room Fund, At&T, and Greycroft Partners.

Novatel Launches With Canadian Wireless Provider
San Diego-based Novatel has snagged a win in Canada, saying this morning that the firm's wireless broadband products have been launched with Fido, a Canadian wireless provider. Novatel, which develops wireless broadband cards and technology used for connecting PCs to 3G WCDMA, CDMA, and GSM wireless networks, said that one of its wireless broadband USB modems was selected by Fido, which the firm says is Canada's third largest wireless provider. Financial impact of the win was not disclosed.

Gorilla Nation Adds HIT Entertainment
Los Angeles-based online advertising rep firm Gorilla Nation has added popular kids video producer HIT Entertainment as a client, the firm announced today. HIT Entertainment owns the Barney, Thomas & Friends, Bob the Builder, and Rainbow Magic children's brands. Gorilla Nation said it will represent HIT Entertainment's web sits for those properties in North America, Canada, and Australia. Ivera Snags License From Becton Dickinson
San Diego-based medical device firm Ivera Medical Corporation has snagged a patent license from Becton, Dickenson and Company, the firm said this morning. Ivera announced that it is in an exclusive license agreement with BD, for the worldwide rights to both issued and pending patents held by BD for intraveneous technology for reducing bloodstream infections.
