Channel M Gets Bilingual Deployment
Los Angeles-based Channel M, a venture backed provider of in-store TV networks, announced Wednesday that PLS Check Cashers, a check cashing chain, will use the firm's programming and advertising. According to Channel M, PLS Check Cashers will offer both English and Spanish content at 50 PLS Check Cashers locations nationwide. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed. Broadcom Files Another Suit Against Qualcomm
Irvine-based Broadcom has filed another lawsuit against San Diego-based Qualcomm, saying Wednesday that it has filed a complaint asserting that Qualcomm's sales and licensing practices amount to patent misuse. Broadcom is looking to have Qualcomm's patents and patent licenses as unenforceable. Goodreads Adds Status Updates
Santa Monica-based Goodreads, a social networking site focused on book readers, said today that it has rolled out a new feature which allows users to provide status updates. Goodreads said that the feature, which is similar to features from Twitter and Facebook, allows members of the site to micro-blog thoughts about books as they are reading them. AgileNano Gets Funding From TCA
Sorrento Valley-based AgileNano, which is developing technology for minimizing military and sports injuries, has raised a Series A funding from the Tech Coast Angels, the TCA said today. According to the San Diego Tech Coast Angels, AgileNano has closed a Series A financing for its technology, which is used to minimize military injuries resulting from explosions, and to increase comfort and protection of sporting equipment such as shoes and helmets. Vue Technology Acquired by Tyco
Lake Forest-based Vue Technology, a provider of radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, has been acquired by Tyco International Ltd., Tyco said Tuesday. Tyco said it will pay approximately $43M for Vue Technology, which develops RFID technology used for tracking inventory and the supply chain. Vue Technology will become part of Tyco's Sensormatic business. Vue has previously raised funding from Canaan Partners, MeadWestvaco, and Partech International. Sigma Systems Acquired By inTEST
El Cajon-based Sigma Systems, a manufacturer of environmental testing chambers, has been acquired by New Jersey-based inTEST Corporation, inTEST said Tuesday. Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed. inTEST said that Sigma Systems will become part of the firm's Temperature Management product segment. Sigma Systems develops environmental chambers and thermal testing products which are used in the semiconductor, automotive, medical/pharmaceutical, electronics, and aerospace industry. (More info...)
