Valueclick Sells AdVault, Inkjet Ops
Westlake Village-based online advertising firm ValueClick disclosed today in a regulatory filing with the SEC that it has divested its AdVault software suite, and sold its inkjet e-commerce business. According to the filing, the firm sold its AdVault software, which is used for production, finances, media planning and buying for advertising agencies, to MediaBank LLC. Symwave Gets $10.2M
Laguna Niguel-based Symwave has raised $10.184M in an investment round, for the firm's analog and mixed signal IC. Details of the funding have not been disclosed. Symwave has previously raised funding from Kodiak Venture Partners, CMEA Ventures, JAFCO Ventures, Revolution Ventures, and RPM Ventures. Symwave develops sensors, serial PHYs, and other products for the semiconductor industry. The firm was founded in 2001. Boingo Bundles With Motorola
Los Angeles-based Wi-Fi provider Boingo Wireless has scored a deal which bundles the firm's Wi-Fi networking services with Motorola's new MOTO Q 11 smartphone, the firm announced Monday. Financial details of the bundling deal were not disclosed. Boingo Wireless said that the MOTO Q 11 will include the firm's Boingo Mobile connection software and service, allowing consumers to connect to Boingo's network of wireless hotspots. Mail.com Raises $32.39M
El Segundo-based Mail.com, a web-based email and portal provider, has quietly scored $32.39M in a funding round, according to venture capital numbers released over the weekend by PricewaterhouseCoopers and the National Venture Capital Association. Details of the funding were not disclosed. Mail.com is a property of Velocity Services, also based in El Segundo, which has previously raised funding form WI Harper.

Epicor Expands Board
Irvine-based Epicor reported Monday that it has expanded its board, and added James T. Richardson as a director. Richardson is currently chairman of FEI Corporation, and also served on the boards of Digimarc and Tripwire; Richardson has also served at WebTrends and Network General, among other firms. Epicor is a developer of enterprise business software. The new board appointment expands the company's board to six people.

OpenX Launches Professional Services
Pasadena-based OpenX, maker of the popular web advertising server of the same name, said Monday that it has launched a new set of professional services and support packages for web publishers. The firm, which is venture backed by Accel Partners, Index Ventures and O'Reilly AlphaTech Ventures, said that its packages will provide a variety of installation, upgrade, and training services. Southern California Companies Raise $751M In Funding in Q3, Says Report
PricewaterhouseCoopers and the National Venture Capital Association released their Q3 2008 venture capital numbers over the weekend, finding that Southern California companies raised nearly $751 in funding during the quarter. According to the MoneyTree Report, based on data from Thomson Reuters, Los Angeles companies led the region with $385.6M in deals, followed by Orange County with $186.9M, then San Diego with $178.4M invested. Conexant Sells Wireless Patents
Newport Beach-based Conexant Systems, a manufacturer of semiconductors for networking, imaging and other industries, said Monday that it has sold certain domestic and international wireless patents at the firm for $15M to an undisclosed firm. According to Conexant, the firm sold the patents because it discontinued its investments in standalone wireless networking product development in November of 2007. Kyriba Enhances Cash Management Software
San Diego-based Kyriba Corporation, a venture-backed provider of software-as-a-service used for treasury cash management, said this morning that the firm has rolled out an enhancement to its offerings. Accordng to the firm, its software now connects to SWIFT, which is a financial messaging network used by banks to exchange secure messages. Rubicon Project Makes Two Hires
Los Angeles-based Rubicon Project, which develops online advertising optimization software, announced this morning that it has hired on two executives to the firm. Rubicon said that it has hired Mark Douglas as Vice President of Engineering, and Seizo Welch as Vice President of Finance. Douglas joins the firm from eHarmony, where he was the firm's Vice President of Technology. Douglas has also served at Oracle. Illumina Rolls Out Genome Analysis Software
San Diego-based Illumina announced a new software product today, GenomeStudio, which the firm says can be used to analyze data from genetic research efforts. According to Illumina, the firm's new software allows researchers to analyze microarray and sequencing data from DNA analysis efforts.
