MyNuMo Becomes PlayScreen, Launches Android Apps
San Diego-based MyNuMo, a firm which develops mobile phone applications, said this week that it has renamed itself PlayScreen, and launched a number of Google Android phone applications. According to the firm, it has launched 20 web-based titles and a new downloadable game for the T-Mobile G1, the new cell phone running Google's Android mobile operating system.

Phenomix Drops IPO Bid
San Diego-based Phenomix Corporation, a biopharmaceuticals firm focused on small molecule drugs, has dropped its IPO bid, according to a filing by the company with the SEC this morning. Phenomix said that it has applied to withdraw its IPO, blaming market conditions. Phenomix had filed a S-1 in January of this year looking to raise up to $86.25M on the Nasdaq. Xcelaero Riases $11.1M For Cooling Technology
San Luis Obispo-based Xcelaero, which is developing high efficiency fans for the computer cooling market, has quietly raised $11.1M in an investment round. Details on the funding have not been released. Xcelaero's products are targeted at the communications, computer, consumer, automotive, military, aerospace, and medical electronics markets. MySpace Partners With IODA
Los Angeles-based MySpace said today that independent music distributor IODA will provide its catalog to MySpace music. According to MySpace, the partnership with IODA--the Independent Online Distribution Alliance--will add over one million new songs to its platform. IODA is a digital distribution company which helps record labels negotiate licenses, encode data, and track royalties. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Shopit Raises $2.5M
Los Angeles-based Shopit, a developer of online shopping widget software, said today that it has raised $2.5M in a Series B funding. The funding came from Toronto, Canada-based Emerson Ventures and Propulsion Ventures. ShopIt said that the round is the first tranche of a $7M capital raise planned for the firm. Shopit develops software which can be embedded in social networking profiles, blog pages, and on other web pages for selling products.
