ToutVirtual Extends Support To Microsoft
Carlsbad-based ToutVirtual, which develops software used to manage virtualized servers, said Monday that the firm has extended its tools and now supports Microsoft's Hyper-V virtualization software. According to ToutVirtual, its VirtualIQ products now support Microsoft Windows SErver 2008 Hyper-V, which is Microsoft's systems virtualization product. Previously, the firm supported the popular VMware virtualization environment. ToutVirtual's products are used to deploy and monitor virtual servers.

NHN Hires CEO, Looks To Expand
Irvine-based online video game publisher NHN USA, the North American subsidiary of Korean Internet firm NHN, said Monday that it has hired a new CEO and is looking to expand at its Irvine location. According to NHN USA, it has appointed Philip Yun as CEO at the firm, which runs the online game portal Ijji.com. Ijji.com offers free online multiplayer games. Guidance Solutions Gets Win
Marina Del Rey-based Guidance Solutions said Monday that the firm has signed on Caltech's Industrial Relations Center as a customer. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed. Guidance, which provides services for building ecommerce web sites, said that Caltech's IRC. which provides an online catalog of executive education courses, used the firm for a web site overhaul. Guidance also provide services for such customers as Foot Locker, Relax the Back, and the Salvation Army.

SAIC Gets $300M Software Development Contract
San Diego-based Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), a provider of engineering and other services, announced today that it has signed a $300M, five year contract with the U.S. Department of Education. According to the firm, it will provide software development services for developing applications for the Office of Federal Student Aid (FSA), a provider of federal and government-guaranteed funding for students. Overland Rolls Remote Backup Appliance
San Diego-based Overland Storage has rolled out a new, disk-based appliance for remote backup, the firm said this morning. Overland said the new product, its REO Compass, provides automated backup of data between locations, and is targeted at wide-area backup and recovery of remote offices. The new product will be available in December, and is available in both 1U and 2U versions, with either iSCSI or Fibre Channel support.

D-Link Taps Unisys For New Support Service
Fountain Valley-based D-Link, a developer of networking hardware and related products, has partnered with Unisys Corporation to add a new set of hardware maintenance services to its offerings. According to D-Link, Unisys will power its D-Link Care Support Packages, a new set of logistics and maintenance services for its customers in North America. Logicube Appoints CTO
Chatsworth-based Logicube, a developer of hard drive duplication products, announced this morning that the firm has appointed Gabi Abraham as Chief Technologist at the firm. Abraham joins the firm from Strix Systems, where he was System Architect. According to Logicube, Abraham has also previously served at Lucent Technologies, and has over 10 years of engineering and product development experience. Logicube develops products used for disk drive duplication and electronic forensics.

Solarflare In Distribution Deal
Irvine-based Solarflare, a developer of 10 Gigabit Ethernet semiconductors, said this morning that the firm has signed a distribution deal with an Israeli firm, El-Gev Electronics. According to Solarflare, El-Gev Electronics will handle pre- and post-sales actiivty and technical support for its products. Solarflare is a developer of 10GBASE-T transceivers and 10 Gigabit Ethernet controllers.
