Where 2 Get It Signs Customer
Anaheim-based Where 2 Get It, which provides location-based services, said today that it has signed on Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar as a customer. Financial details of the win were not disclosed. According to Where 2 Get It, its Mob ile Web Locator will be used by Fleming's as a part of a new mobile web site. Where 2 Get It develops software used for locating retail stores via zip code or address, for both web and mobile platforms.

RealD Signs Another Theater Chain
Los Angeles-based RealD is continuing to sign up theaters for the firm's 3D projection technology, saying Monday that the firm has inked an agreement with Dickinson Theatres to deploy its products in 100 screens. Financial impact of the win was not disclosed. The systems will be deployed by the beginning of January. Language Weaver Puts New Twist On Recruiting, Runs Logic Contest
One Southern California firm is putting a new twist on its recruiting efforts for engineers and scientists, by running a "Puzzle Contest" which will award $1,000 for the first answer to a series of questions on the firm's site. According to the firm, the effort is part of an effort to identify smart people to fill positions of researchers or engineers at the company. Staccato Gets Wireless Certification
San Diego-based Staccato Communications, a developer of ultra-wideband (UWB) wireless chips, has scored a certification for its products. According to the firm, its Ripcord2 single-chip UWB products have received the official WiMedia PHY certification. WiMedia is a new standard targeted at high speed, wireless multimedia communications, specifically in the areas of PCs, consumer electronics, and mobile applications. STEC Names CFO
Santa Ana-based solid state memory manufacturer STEC said Monday that it has appointed Raymond D. Cook as the firm's new CFO. Cook replaces Dan Moses, who the firm says is retiring. Moses will remain on STEC's board of directors. Cook joins the firm from Mindspeed Technologies, where he was VP Finance and Corporate Controller, and had also served as interim CFO. Cook has also served at Conexant, Rockwell International, and Spicer & Oppenheimer. STEC is a manufacturer of solid state disk drives. (More info...)
