Oversee.net's Ng Becomes Chairman, Kupietzky New Head
Los Angeles-based Oversee.net, which provides Internet marketing and domain name services, is announcing today that co-founder Lawrence Ng is becoming Chairman of the board, and handing over the reins to Jeff Kupietzky. Kupietzky becomes President, and is also joining the board of directors for the firm. According to Oversee.net, Ng will continue to remain actively involved in the company, along with fellow Oversee.net co-founder Fred Hsu. Oblong Industries Launches
Los Angeles-based Oblong Industries, a venture-backed developer of gesture tracking software and graphical user interfaces, has unveiled itself, saying today that it is looking to "fundamentally change the way people use machines at work, in the living room, in conference rooms, and vehicles." The firm--which is backed by The Foundry Group--is based on research out of MIT. Oblong said it has laboratories in Los Angeles and Barcelona working on its products. Gorilla Nation Gets Xbox Game Win
Santa Monica-based online advertising rep firm Gorilla Nation has scored a win for the promotion of a new Xbox game called Fable 2. According to Gorilla Nation, it is in an international partnership to promote the Fable 2 video game, and has created a custom widget that is being deployed throughout the UK, United States, and Canada. BrightQube Updates Photo Searching Site
San Diego-based BrightQube, an angel-backed stock photo search site, has updated its web services to make it easier for photo buyers to find images. BrightQube rolled out its new web site earlier this week, adding such features as pop-up search tips, new navigation options, filtering, and other features. BrightQube has developed a radically different user interface specifically aimed at filtering through both microstock and professional stock photography, making it easier for graphics designers (More info...)

Valeant Pharmaceuticals Buys Australian Firm
Aliso Viejo-based Valeant Pharmaceuticals said today that it has acquired an Australian specialty pharmaceuticals firm, DermaTech Pty Ltd. Valeant said it paid approximately AU$19M ($12.5M US) for DermaTech, which develops products for the dermatology market. Valeant said that DermaTEch currently has annual net sales of approximately AU$10.5M ($6.9M US). Valeant Pharmaceuticals is a developer of a wide range of neurology and dermatology pharmaceuticals.

UpSellit Launches Virtual Chat Services
Looking to help small businesses with their online sales, Camarillo-based UpSellit announced earlier this week that it has launched a new service to provide virtual chat services to small business owners. According to UpSellit, its new MoxieChat service provides online virtual chat, targeted at helping to convert online shoppers. The firm said it uses natural language parsing to help small business owners for increasing customer touch points, and will offer its services via a subscription model. (More info...)
