Emergent Signs Game Studio
Calabasas-based Emergent Technologies, a developer of tools for developing video games, said this week that it has been selected by STickmen Studios for a Wii title. According to Emergent, Stickmen Studios will use the firm's Gambryo software for its WiiWare title Dragon Master Spell Caster. Financial impact of the win was not disclosed. Activision Blizzard Cutting Jobs in Los Angeles, According to Filings
Computer game maker Activision Blizzard is apparently cutting jobs in El Segundo and Los Angeles, according to a filing with the California Employment Development Department. According to layoff filings, required in California of certain companies, Activision Blizzard is looking to lay off 4 employees in El Segudno, and 23 employees in Los Angeles on December 19th. Kingston Ships DDR3 Chips
Fountain Valley-based Kingston Technology announced Thursday that the computer memory manufacturer has shipped low latency DDR3 memory targeted at the notebook market. The firm said its DDR3 1066Mhz, SO-DIMM chips are specifically focused on computer game enthusiasts looking to push system performance. Kingston is a manufacturer of a wide range of memory products.

MindTouch Looks To Convert Users
San Diego-based MindTouch, which develops open source wiki software, said Thursday that it has announced three new converters targeted at helping its users move from Mediawiki, Atlassian Confluence, and IBM Lotus Notes. The firm said that the new converters enable users to convert over to the firm's wiki software from the competing software. MediaWiki is the open source wiki software used to run the Wikipedia online encyclopedia site, and Lotus Notes is heavily used by enterprises for their corp (More info...)
