Mediaplex Adds Behavioral Targeting
Mediaplex, the technology division of online advertising firm ValueClick, has ventured into the behavioral targeting arena, with a new product, the firm said yesterday. The division of Westlake Village-based ValueClick said that its new product will allow advertisers to segment their qualified customers, based on prior activity on the web. Transonic Combustion Gets New CEO
Camarillo-based Transonic Combustion, which is developing high-efficiency fuel injection systems for cars, said Thursday that it has named Brian Ahlborn as President and CEO of the firm. The company--which is backed by clean technology heavyweight Khosla Ventures, Venrock, and Rustic Canyon Partners--said that Ahlborn was most recently president of McLaren Performance Technologies. Verve Wireless Signs More Media Firms, Launches Coupon Offering
San Diego-based Verve Wireless, which develops products to help newspapers publish their content to mobile phones, has signed on another set of newspapers, and rolled out a new coupon offering, the firm said late Wednesday. According to Verve, it has added the Chicago Sun-Times, The San Diego Union-Tribune, The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Time Out Chicago, Time Out New York and Metro International as partners. Big Stage Partners With GGL Global Gaming
Pasadena-based Big Stage Entertainment, which develops 3D avatar technology, said today that it has partnered with video game company GGL Global Gaming, to provide free game content on its web site. According to Big Stage, the deal will allow users on the site to insert the firm's 3D avatars into game photos and videos. KidZui Releases Firefox Browser Add-On
San Diego-based KidZui, which develops kid-safe browsers, has released a new version of the firm's software--this time in the form of a browser add on for the Mozilla Firefox browser. KidZui said the add-on, which works with Firefox 3.0, has all of the same features as the company's standalone browsers for the PC and Mac. Hirsch Electronics In Merger
Santa Ana-based Hirsch Electronics Corp., a developer of access card readers and systems, is merging with German firm SCM Microsystems, Inc., the firms said today. According to the companies, the two will merge into a single firm, SCM Microsystems, developing smart-card based logical access readers and other devices. RealD Inks Digital Cinema Deal
Los Angeles-based 3D technology provider RealD has inked a deal with a digital cinema server firm, the company said Wednesday. RealD said that Doremi Cinema LLC will integrate the firm's 3D EQ technology into Doremi's digital cinema servers. Financial impact of the deal was not disclosed.
