eHow: Users Looking For Financial Advice
Santa Monica-based eHow, an online "how to" site owned by Demand Media, said Wednesday that the firm is seeing an increase in economy and personal finance related articles, due to the economy. Circuit City Liquidator Promises Deeper Cuts
One of the four liquidators of Circuit City, Great American Group, which is based in Woodland Hills, said today in a statement that the firm will be providing "deeper discounts" on items at the store, claiming that more than $450 million of Circuit City's $1.7 billion of inventory has been sold. ReachLocal Inks Alliance With Google In UK
Woodland Hills-based ReachLocal, which helps small businesses buy search engine advertising, has inked a strategic alliance with Google in the United Kingdom, the firm announced today. ReachLocal said that it has become an "Authorised Reseller" of Google's AdWords in the UK, through its UK site, ReachLocal UK. Report: Slacker Gets $5M Bridge
San Diego-based Slacker, which operates an Internet radio service, along with selling a music player linked to it service, has reportedly scored a $5M bridge financing round, according to industry publication VentureWire. VentureWire cited a regulatory filing in reporting the news. Slacker is venture backed by Austin Ventures, Centennial Ventures, Mission Ventures, and Sevin Rosen Funds, and had previously raised $53.5M in funding.

DEX Snags Logistics Experts From UPS, Solectron
Camarillo-based DEX, a provider of supply chain services to the high tech industry, said Wednesday that it has bolstered its executive ranks. The firm said that it has hired on two new executives from UPS and Solectron. Central Desktop Sees Q4 Increase
Pasadena-based Central Desktop said today that it is among the local firms seeing great results from Q4, despite the economy. The firm said its Q4 was "a record quarter" for the firm, which provides software-as-a-service tools for helping business teams manage projects and work. Santa Barbara-based SpectraFluidics Inc., a developer of handheld chemical-detection devices, reported Tuesday that Casey Hare has joined the firm as vice president of systems engineering.
