Encino-based SodaHead.com, the venture backed, online questions-and-answers site, has swizzled its web site, saying this week that it has redesigned its site to make it easier for its users to find topics. Among updates to the site are new category links to make it easier to find questions and answers, and a way to link and share news articles on the site. FirstString.com Takes On High School Athletics
West Hollywood-based FirstString.com said today that it has launched a new online, social community focused on high school athletics. The startup, which was founded in September, said it will provide an online site where high school players can post photos, videos, messages, schedules, and more about their teams and personal profiles. Boingo Ties Into Mobile Video Site
Los Angeles-based Boingo Wireless, which operates a network of Wi-Fi hotspots, has launched a promotion with Web 2.0 live video streaming firm Qik. According to the firms Tuesday, Qik will offer Boingo's services in a trial for 30 days, in addition to offering Boingo subscriptions to its users. Silicon Valley-based Qik allows smart phone users to stream video from their mobile phones, via wireless connections. GoTV Networks Launches Music Channels On T-Mobile G1
Sherman Oaks-based GoTV Networks, which develops original programming for the mobile market, said today that the firm has launched a number of music channels on the T-Mobile G1 handset. GoTV Networks said it has launched a number of music channels on the Google Android-based handset, all of which offer music news, updates, charts, interviews, and more. Breach Security Claims Revenue Gains
Carlsbad-base Breach Security, which develops web application security appliances, is reporting that the firm saw a 157 percent revenue increase in 2008, year over year. Actual financials were not released by the privately held company, nor were details on profitability. QLogic Gets EMC Qual, Claims Market Share Lead
Aliso Viejo-based QLogic, a supplier of host bus adapters and switches to the storage area networking market, said Tuesday that one of its 8Gb Fibre Channel switches has been qualified by EMC, and also said a report has found its firm is now number one in both revenue and port share in the Host Bus Adapter market. Novatel Wireless Ships New Products
San Diego-based Novatel Wireless, a developer of wireless broadband data cards, announced three new products today. According to Novatel, it has launched two new embedded modules, and a USB modem, all focused on the HSPA network market. The new products are targeted at connecting laptops with high speed, cellular data networks.
