Baroda Ventures Snags Lee As Partner
Beverly Hills-based Baroda Ventures, an early stage venture capital fund, has hired on Peter Lee as a new Partner at the firm. Lee joins the firm from Prism Ventures. Lee has also served at Clearstone Venture Partners, Fortis Partners, Goldpocket Interactive, and McKinsey & Co. According to Lee, his last day at Prism Ventures will be Monday. EMRISE Sells Division
Rancho Cucamonga-based EMRISE, a manufacturer of defense and aerospace electronics, said Friday that it has sold "substantially all" of the assets of the firm's Digitran Switch Division. The deal was worth $12M in cash. EMRISE said it sold the division to Massachusetts-based Electro Switch Corp. The deal included all of the assets of Digitran, plus all of the capital stock of XCEL Japan Ltd., the sales office for Digitran. ISWest Gets Court Win
Agoura Hills-based ISWest, a provider of server colocation and Internet hosting services, has had a trademark infringement claim upheld by a U.S. District Court in Pasadena. According to court filings, ISWest had filed a trademark infringement claim against Milon-Digiorgio Enterprises in 2005, alleging that the firm's use of the name ISPWest was confusing to consumers. Universal Sports Taps Ooyala For Video Distribution
Santa Monica-based Universal Sports, which operates an online sports television channel, has tapped video streaming provider Ooyala for its online video distribution efforts. According to Ooyala, Universal Sports will use its video publishing and monetization platform to deliver its video archives to 25 partner web sites, including skiracing.com, skireport.com, skispace.com, trackandfieldnews.com, tilastopaja.org, intlgymnast.com and fasterskier.com. Emergent Adds Two to Executive Staff
Emergent Game Technologies reported Thursday that it has added two executives to its management team. The Calabasas-based publisher of video game development tools said it has appointed Amanda Cinfio director of business development and Tim Flett manager of developer relations. Ingram Micro To Sell Danish Unit, Restructure Operations
Santa Ana-based Ingram Micro, a distributor of technology products, announced today that it is selling off its operations in Denmark, and will restructure its operations in the Nordic countries of the EMEA. According to Ingram Micro, it intends to close its distribution businesses in Finland and Norway, following regulatory approvals, in addition to selling its Danish operations to German distributor Actebis Group. Overland Dodges Delisting
San Diego-based Overland Storage is reporting this morning that the firm has been informed by the Nasdaq, that the Nasdaq has withdrawn a notification over the firm's compliance with listing maintenance standards. According to Overland, the Nasdaq says the company currently meets alternative maintenance standards for listing on the exchange. Advantar Laboratories In Deal With NextPharma
San Diego-based Advantar Laboratories, a provider of contract laboratory services to the drug development industry, has signed an agreement with UK-based firm NextPharma Technologies, a pharmaceutical product development, contract manufacturing, and outsourcing service. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. Cogent Signs Distributor
Pasadena-based Cogent Systems revealed Wednesday that it has signed a Canadian firm as a distributor of its BioGate line of commercial biometric readers. Cogent said the distributor, Keyscan Inc., will also become Cogent's largest private-label customer. The financial impact of the new business was not disclosed. Online marketing firm Digitaria reported earlier this week that it has hired Sunil Bhagwan as vice president of search. The San Diego-based company described Bhagwan as a veteran of the Web marketing industry with nearly a decade of leadership experience.
