Entropic Cuts Workers, Closes Locations
San Diego-based Entropic Communications, a manufacturer of semiconductors for the home entertainment market, said in a filing with the SEC Tuesday that the firm is cutting approximately 55 of its employees, or 18 percent of its workforce. According to the company, its workers were notified Monday and Tuesday that it would make the cuts. Pure Bioscience In India Distribution Deal
San Dieog-based PURE Bioscience, a developer of an antimicrobial disinfectant, said Wednesday that it has licensed a distributor for its products in India. According to PURE Bioscience, the firm's products will be distributed under the brand name Enviroguard through Global Endeavor and its Indian subsidiary, Pure-Enviro Biotech, Pvt. Ltd. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. The firm's products will be applied to hospital disinfection, food safety, and other uses.

Fisker Automotive Gains Dealers
Irvine-based Fisker Automotive, a startup hybrid electric automobile manufacturer which is venture funded by Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers, Palo Alto Investors and the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), said Tuesday that it has signed up a network of dealers to carry the firm's automobiles. The firm said it hopes to have 40 locations across the country by the end of June to carry its $87,900 Karma sedan. XCast Labs Gains Funding
Los Angeles-based XCast Labs, a provider of hosted digital video and voice services, has recently scored an investment round. The round came from Siemer and Associates, along with angel investors. Financial details of the funding were not announced. XCast Labs provides digital voice and video products to carriers, CLEcs, resellers, ISPs, and cable providers. The firm's products include broadband voice, video conferencing, and other services.

LeisureLink Gets $6.2M
Pasadena-based LeisureLink has closed on $6.2M in a first tranche of additional funding for the travel firm, the company disclosed today. LeisureLink, which provides a distribution and booking service for specialty lodging, said the round was led by Mission Ventures and Clearstone Venture Partners, and also included participation from its other insiders. ID Analytics Enhances Products
San Diego-based ID Analytics, a provider of software used for detecting identity fraud and risk, disclosed today that the firm has added a new family of products focused on tapping information not found in typical public records or credit bureaus. According to the firm, its new ID Network Attributes products use information such as names, addresses, dates of birth, reported identity fraud, and other information to detect possible identity theft. FastSoft Upgrades Internet Acceleration Appliance
Pasadena-based FastSoft, which develops network appliances for accelerating Internet transfers, said this week that the firm has upgraded the firm's E Series devices. FastSoft is a spinout of Caltech which is commercializing enhancements to the TCP/IP protocol, which is used to transmit Internet data. Overland Storage Gets Receivables Financing
San Diego-based Overland Storage is reporting today that it has scored $5M in a receivables financing. The firm said the financing came from FGI Finance, with a two year agreement with annual renewals. Overland said that the receivables line comes after an earlier, $9M domestic receivables financing line from Marquette Commercial Finance the firm put into place in November.

Godex Opens Camarillo Office
Taiwanese barcode printer manufacturing firm Godex International said Tuesday that the firm has opened up a new office in Camarillo, to serve its customers in the Americas. Godex said that it has hired on Bruce Glenn to head up its Americas operations. Glenn has previously served at Zebra Technologies and Eltron. Competing thermal barcode printer firm Zebra Technologies also has an office in Camarillo, which was the headquarters of Eltron before it was acquired by Zebra.
