Geni Goes Pro
Hollywood-based Geni, an online site that allows users to share family trees and network with relatives and family, is the latest Web 2.0 site to add "pro" accounts to their services. According to Geni, its new pro accounts will cost $50.00 annually, or $4.95 per month, and offers value added features such as statistics on family history, advanced search, enhanced relationship searching, and exporting of family trees. Docstoc Connects To Twitter, Facebook
Santa Monica-based Docstoc, the venture funded web-document sharing firm run by Jason Nazar, has connected the firm's document sharing service with Facebook and Twitter updates. The new features allow users to automatically post a link in the Facebook social networking site or the Twitter micro-blogging service with any upload or download of a document. Verimatrix Closes Deals In Russia
San Diego-based Verimatrix, a venture-funded provider of IPTV security technology, said this week that the firm has signed on three TV operators in Russia. According to Verimatrix, it has signed on Iskratelecom, Tattelecom and Bashinformsvyaz as customers working in conjunction with systems integrator and reseller CTI. Panda Security Inks Distribution Deal With Dell
Glendale-based Panda Security, a developer of IT security software, announced Thursday that the firm has inked a deal with computer giant Dell, where Dell will distribute its products to clients in Latin America. According to Panda, the deal covers Mexico, Central America, Columbia, and the Caribbean. Financial impact of the win was not disclosed. Panda is a maker of anti-virus, anti-malware, and other security software, including Panda Antivirus Pro 2009 and Panda Internet Security 2009.

Smith Micro Gains Patent
Aliso Viejo-based Smith Micro Software, reported Thursday that the firm has gained a new patent covering its compression technology. According to Smith Micro, it received U.S. Patent No. 7,502,514, "System and Method for Lossless Compression of Already Compressed Files" for technology used to compression JPEG files. IOGEAR Launches USB Sharing Devices
Irvine-based IOGEAR, a manufacturer of PC accessories, has launched two new devices which lets users share their USB printers and other accessories, the firm said earlier this week. According to IOGEAR, its new 2-port, USB 2.0 Printer Auto Sharing Switch allows users to connect both Macs and PCs to a single printer; the firm's new 4-port USB Net ShareStation allows users to share up to four USB devices in a home or office network.
